When you go to start a campaign, you will want to first select keywords that you would like to target. When you go to create your adgroups, you will want to be sure that they are highly targeted and focused. Make sure all the keywords describe relatively the same thing and that they are included in ad text as well as the landing page that users will be taken to after they click. Monitor campaign performance on a weekly basis and make adjustments where necessary.

Landing page optimization is one of the most important factors in having success with any type of PPC advertising.

Be sure to include keywords that you used in your ads in a prominent place on the landing page. Users need to know they landed in the right place after they have clicked on your ad. You also need to deliver what it was that the ad promised them. For instance if your ad text says "Buy Product only 9.99", this text should also be on the landing page.

Next make as easy and obvious as possible for users to perform the action you want them to perform when they arrive on your landing page. Whether its buying a product, filling out a form or downloading something, make it simple and easy. The idea is that a user is following a path from when they entered a search query, saw your ad, clicked it, came to the landing page, did what you wanted them to do. Any confusion or ambiguity in this "funnel" and they will leave and start over somewhere else.
