You should know how many unique visitors the forum gets per day. Those are equivalent to how many people will see the ad and then you can calculate clickthrough rates etc.

Generally, I believe if you can work out a deal for a monthly price then it would usually be a better deal then PPC or PPV and you should get more of your moneys worth.

You need to figure out how much traffic his site gets and where your ads are placed then I would negotiate a deal to pay monthly.

    I use this site:
    Code:
    http://www.quantcast.com/
You can also find the demographics of the site as well there.

In a nutshell, the way sites track demographics on websites is from the users cookies.

Whenever you visit websites, your cookies are keeping track of everything you do and what you visit. So lets say you visit a site that is about college boys basketball. Well your cookies now assume you are a male in college. So the next time you visit a new site, this site will now know more about you based on your previous cookies. (Assuming you have not deleted your cookies recently)

So basically whenever you are browsing various websites, your cookies are keeping track of what you do and who you are.

Without getting too technical, hopefully that kinda explains it more. I'm no expert in cookies but I know this is how they basically can track your demographics.

But how would quantcast get a hold of this information and display it? Are all websites demographic statistics made public?
