I'm quitting my $16.28 an hour job tomorrow.

I've been pondering the idea for about 3 weeks. They have us working a minimum of 64 hours a week, and then I found out something Friday that made me IRATE.

Apparently the "higher ups" thought it was a good idea to BURN off a double coating of paint. It doesn't take a genius to know that while paint fumes are toxic, burning paint fumes can be downright lethal. Many people got sick that night, and there was a smoky haze in the entire factory because of it. Now I know all the black shit I'm finding in my nose everyday isn't just from working in a dirty factory.

So, I'm leaving the security of my job to work like a mad dog on my business venture. I took Wiz's advice and marketed on a forum offering my wholesale cosmetics where I'm a platinum member with 78 itraders (all positive) and saw a 30% conversion rate. For every 10 views to my post, I had 3 girls sign up...not bad, I'll say. :)

I also became an approved vendor for two of the largest e-commerce sites on the web Friday. That makes me hopeful.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go back to marketing my business like a two bit whore.

Sounds like you have got it all figured out. Good luck with your venture.

I would be interested in finding more about your products and see if there is an opportunity for business. Can you PM me the details.

You will love kicking that job to the curb and working for yourself. Nothing like the feel of freedom, networking with others like yourself and making good money.

I'm pretty sure USA laws would not allow paint to be burned off in the workplace. We have OSHA and they can close you down.

If I can help you with articles, let me know. I think I have a few on make-up that a client never used or published from 5 or 6 years ago. No charge for a gal starting out.

Good luck and have a budget with set financial goals in mind. Have a schedule in place so you don't get caught in a financial quagmire that you can't pull yourself from.

I think you are making the right decison by leaving. No use of the money if it is going to kill you.

Anyway Good luck with your venture. Hope you do well. There is no better feeling then being your own boss.

even if it wasnt that toxic its not worth.. yeah the payout is good but you trade all of your time for that money. You should evaluate TIME over money because money are everywhere while time is ticking. Good decision and good lock on your new journey, wish you the best.

    Sounds like a good plan!
I wish I was making $16/hr, my $14/hr job isn't cutting it anymore.

There's probably some kind of Government agency you can report your employer to for putting its employees in harms way...

Congrats on your decision. I wish you the best of luck. I think everyone has their breaking point and noxious, poisonous paint fumes were yours.

    ----
Word of advice. Quit in writing and reference the paint incident so you can collect un-employment since you quit with just cause......and it doesn't matter that you have self-employed income.

Go for it, you will love it, although don't forget that unlike many think - it's not a bed of roses and working hours might be much longer, the freedom, though...I wouldn't trade it for any job!
