You're a web designer and you don't have your own site? That's like selling real estate without having your own building.

I would understand if you just started as web designer, but if you are web designer for years and don't have your own website then you really need to think about your strategy of attracting clients. I don't know why you worry of getting traffic to your website. Every web designer NEED to have a portfolio website where you will list all your previous designs or maybe some of your concept ideas.

If you're starting your web agency then doing the first projects without having a website is normal IMO. But if you're planning to do this long term you need a website.
What are the logos that you attached?

I have done some freelancing work and it is currently my main source of income. I just finished my own site just as I feel the need of having it because I am web dev/ designer and I need to show off my work somewhere to my customers. I might even get some traffic from google or some backlinks... So its a must have, I think.

    cheers, baxxx

Yes you need a website because you need to show your clients the services you provide and your portfolio.

Just because you can upload wordpress templates or have a copy of dreamweaver doesn't make you a web designer

    You're clearly not.

Why wouldn't you make a site even if you're worried about a lack of sales? It's free for you to make a website. I mean technically you're putting quantifiable working hours into it, but it's not as if you're going to lose any money by making yourself a site...

Even if I'm not a professional web designer, I'm trying to become one. Why all the hate? Don't we all have to start somewhere?

It's not hate it's commonsense bro. A shop owner doesn't just put his stock on the pavement and sell it, he seeks a building, renovates it into a store and sells from there.
By the looks of your work, you got a fair mile to go yet before you can be taken seriously. I used to design myself, until I hit myself with the reality check that I simply wasn't good enough.
Nowadays, I outsource the web design to a few students for peanuts and take home a healthy chunk of the profits. Your background in design is useful when talking to the client and also if your outsource fails, you can still do a half decent job yourself.

competition are always nosy, so if you make someone a website and place your link at the bottom, their competition will surely check out your website, and you might get a job, free advertisement.
