I've been quietly hovering in the background of this forum for a couple weeks now. Seems to be the best resource around for some good advice.

I've got a website after a sales guy sold me a hosting/affilliate program for $149. Rippoff I know but I though what the hell I have it now I may as well try to get some $. Not trying to scam in any way because I actually believe in what my site describes because I know it works. I believe the knowledge to be valuable because I done almost twelve months research to end up with this content.

I also have a large mailing list focussed on my niche but bulk mailing seems to be a science which I havent quite got my head around yet.

Anyway I've tried a few things on this forum, some recommended tools, article ,directory submitters, a couple scripts, affiliate links and to date I've made about $2..lol!

Can anyone maybe look at my site and give some suggestions, the niche is quite focussed but obviously a competitive niche, just want to see if I can maybe set myself up to make (say) $50 per day or so. Not planning to take over the world :)

    cheap-health-supplements.com

Thanks in advance and keep up the great work!!

I don't have much time right now, but I went to your site. You definitely have to redo your site. Missing header graphic, wrong layout, etc. It doesn't look professional enough. Right now it looks more like a hobby site. As soon as I have some time, I'll give you some pointers in the right direction.

    It seems plain
I would try and make it more welcoming, it seems like a website I would just leave after entering!

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback.

I've totally changed things, instead of giving the info up front I have made an ebook (using ebook creator) and will sell for $2.99. How does the pricing sound?

I used magic sales letter to generate something a bit more exciting for the website. cheap-health-supplements.com

Hope it does the trick. Feedback would be much appreciated.

I suppose I should post the ebook to see if its worth $2.99?

    cheers

My advice to you is to put your site on Wordpress if it isn't already.. and then get WP Spire... learn how to make Landing pages with WP Spire.. it is a really cool tool...(Artisteer is also worth checking out)

as for the price of the e-book.... terrible...

One thing you have to understand is this.. (and I know this because I made the same kind of mistakes when I was starting out).. if someone wants the information, and you sell it to them the right way.. they have no problem paying $15-$50 for it... especially if it is as valuable as you say it is. In fact selling it for cheap makes people think it is worthless and there must be something wrong with it!!!! <--- REMEMBER THAT!

The problem is, to make a measly $1000 bux you need to sell almost 400 copies of the ebook if u sell it for that rate. At a 1 percent conversion rate (which is what u MIGHT see as a noob...) you are going to need to get 40,000 visitors to your site to make that happen... which means EVEN IF you could pull 1000 visitors a day it would still take you damn near two months to sell that many copies... which means you would bank a jawdropping....... $600-700 a month... with 1000 coming to your sit everyday... now is that worth your time? ....

and get this.... the lower your price is.. the lower your sales will be!! sound crazy.. well it isn't ... lower prices dont equal higher sales..it just makes people thinking you are lowballing and a cheapo..it makes you look unprofessional...

redesign the site with WP Spire... think of a way to give some of the info away just to draw them in (Hint: opt-in.... i give you first 5 pages for FREE... ETC) and THEN offer the ebook for $19.99.... along with a year's membership to your forum in which you will answer all their questions...

stuff the e-book with affiliate links... then promote that same stuff in your forums .. which will be even more persuasive because you can create multiple identities in your forum to make the products look more effective ;)

make sure you hype the forum up to make it look like there are lots of people there that can help your customers find even more information on an interactive basis...

emphasize updates, discounts and support... put a guarantee stamp somewhere.. write some realistic testimonials..

spread the word in related forums...

    ^ formula for success;)

end result.... with 200 UVs a day at a 3% conversion rate you're looking at 6 sales a day... 6 x $20= $120 a day... or about $4000 a month... PLUS the affiliate commissions from the links in your ebook ;)

    good luck

P.S.... learn how to write sales pages.. they need to be more concise! IMPACT!!! Read a bunch and see what they did.. those people make money.. no need to reinvent the wheel.. just follow a successful template and add a twist! solid points = sales.. don;t beat them to death with content.. if you can;t finish reading your entire sales page in less than 10 minutes then your conversions will suffer...

    Thanks Tophat, thats gold!

I'll rethink the whole thing based on this. :)

When you say wordpress, do you mean their free blog or use them to host and develop a website using their development platform

    Thanks again!

Standardise your text sizes! The first few paragraphs gave me a headache.

You might want to skim your sales letter for punctuation/grammatical errors while you're at it - I found several in the first few paragraphs.

And your headline isn't properly formatted. It just looks like a sentence in a large font. Keep working on it, you'll get there.

IMO, the price of 3 bucks kind of gives an impression of not really a quality stuff,
also, why don't you start building a mailing list, you could sell them bunch of stuff

Ok....besides all the good tips you've gotten so far...you need to continue to read these forums and promote your site in a creative way via social sites. Also you must not give up. You have a nice buying domain and the niche has plenty of traffic, you just need to find where your target market/demographic spend their viewing time and promote, promote, promote

To be honest I couldn't even bring myself to read it. I simply don't read anything that doesn't have some sort of images or photo's to give me some idea of what the content is even about. I'm not trying to be a jerk, just trying to give you the advise you are asking for. You need to clean that site up, reduce those font sizes by about 50% accross the board and put some kind of pictures on there... If your thing is about supplements I expect to some before and after photo's of fat to skinny chics, or some pill bottles, or some doctor-like stock photo's or something that makes it look more legitimate. I don't normally recommend installing a premium theme, but if you don't know anything about designing a page then it may be the best thing for you to get started with. There are probably a few premium themes right here in the DL section.

I'm sorry I couldn't spend as much time on looking at the sales copy and such as some people did, but the advice here did seem good. You can't sell ANYTHING too cheap or people think its crap right off the bat.

To be honest, the health supplement niche is one of the most competitive niches out there. I don't know how you intend to get traffic to your site, but I do think you should know how competitive it is. When I first got started I went right for the health niche and spent MONTHS spinning my wheels trying to compete on the SEO stage, and without the proper understanding of what to do, and how to choose the proper keywords, nevermind get the proper (ie expensive) software tools to automate your link building efforts so you can compete for the keywords worth competing for... well... lets just say... many consider the health niche the niche the "seperates the men from the boys".

I did do a quick check for you to see what sort of competition on the keyword "Cheap Health Supplements" and it gets less than 300 searches a month even on the broad match (and around 100 on the exact match) which means even if you got #1 on google for that term (which should be a breeze actually) the best you could hope for is 50-100 visitors a month on that term alone. Not that you need to do that, its just not a very good domain name (I made almost the exact same mistake when I first started... just picked domain names without doing any keyword research first).

Here is what I recomend for you... Write your ebook, make it look descent, and sell it on clickbank where you can let the marketers take care of most of the sales for you. Pay someone to make a nice lander for you and you just write ebooks... It looks like you like to write:) There is good money in launching new ebooks

    Good luck

Wow, this is a great forum, thanks y'all.

Think I might pitch my tent here and hang around for a while!

I'll celebrate with a bottle of bourbon on my first ebook sale..hehe. $2.99 income less $25 for the bourbon... hmmm guess I better sell a few more than 1. :)
