I had an eBay account for many years that had an excellent rating. 99% of it was just selling my own items sitting around the house. I had also sold 100 Google+ invites via email when it was still in beta. I was one of the first people to be on the network. An interesting tidbit, most of them were sold to writers from all the huge tech sites and blogs out there. Some sold as high as $99.99! I ran into issues last August. I was scammed on a phone that was delivered and the buyer stated that it was an empty box. I refunded of course, because I didn't want the negative feedback. I knew I'd never understand the ruling and chose not to fret or argue for the security of my account.

Around this time last summer I decided to start "picking" and had done two weekends of garage sales as well as bought some books and sold them to a couple sites for quick flips. August 8th of last year I was hit by a car at work going about 40 mph. I went to shock trauma and was release with literally no injuries other than SEVERE bruising. Another interesting tidbit - it cost more to fix the guys car (his fault) than me. I was working and my company paid for both to avoid the costs of litigation. During this time I had several listings sell. After about a week of serious meds and pain, I got myself together some and started talking to buyers. Most wanted, and got refunds. Some wanted items still and I sent them. Pretty much all left bad feedback for me though. I resolved all the cases of course. The CATCH was this. I didn't in my pain and suffering (sounds so cliche, but very true) read and understand the part where I had 90 days to get my seller rating back up to par. It just wasn't on my plate at this point after the accident. So after 90 days of not using my account, it was banned. How flattering. I called as most here have and stated my case. Explained my situation, offered to forward medical bills and paperwork as proof from my hospital, ambulance, rehab, etc.; and simply asked that they restart the 90 days now that I had a clear mind and understood the process. I was denied. Had I known this, I would have just sold a bunch of cds or dvds for a penny and taken the losses to get the good feedback and save the account.

So here I am. I make decent money, $60k a year. My girlfriend makes $45 but raises her younger 17 yr old sister as well. I LOVED picking the couple times I went, and she enjoys it as well. Moreso for the learning experience. Its new and challenging to her. We decided we want to start picking and selling items for extra income a few weeks ago. She isn't tech savvy and we are usually at my home. We also have a lot more space in my home. We've sent a bunch of items, about 90 lbs to Amazon FBA and will keep doing more. But many items are just meant for ebay.

So our concern is using my home as a place to do business, as well as her new account (in the sense that its never used) on eBay and PP.

That being said, I wouldn't mind having my own, but have many questions.

  • How can we use her account from my home, without having it banned as well?
  • We are curious of tax implications on her. She is in nursing school, but makes too much, dependent or not for assistance. But we don't want her hitting another tax bracket from this as it grows.
  • What are my options for having another account as well, or 2-3?
  • How do I get that money from my theoretical accounts into my bank account without my name restricting PP or bank accounts and eBay accounts?

Sorry for the story. I just thought it would be interesting to see how I ended up here. And sorry for the newb'ness. I am fairly tech savvy but not in regards to the variables I am reading about here. And yes, I have read many hours worth of info on many sites. It just, for whatever reason, isn't clicking for me :(

Hope all is well.

Also to note, my PP account has no restrictions. I used to play poker and make a lot of money from it. I swapped huge sums of money with other players all the time. Hundreds of transactions a month usually for many thousands of dollars. It was how we bought "pieces" of one anothers action if we were not on similar sites or if we the sites had strict transfer limits. I don't even know if my PP matters in this anymore. But there it is.

I just PMed you my Skype add me and I'll do my best to guide you as far as I can.

Use a different PC, different ISP, a home address with variation, an unlinked bank account and a authentic eBay account. Don't sell the same products... Don't log into your account from that PC ever.

Consult a good tax consultant when her income grows.

Ebay Stealth, and then don't be careless ever to make them link everything...

So that's my question. eBay Stealth is fine and dandy, but at some point you have to realize the money. And by that I mean, it has to be sent to somewhere that you can access it. So I have 3 stealth accounts that I buy or create. But then how does that become real money if I need to put it into my own bank account(s) from PP, to get to it?

Different PC isn't an option. Will reinstalling Windows 8 solve this part? Different ISP isn't either, as only once services my neighborhood. But I can buy an new router and change the ISP (via my brother can do this for me). With her address we don't have a same physical address issue, and when we move in together six months from now it will be a different home.

So if I reinstall Windows on my machine, create a new user acct on setup and name it something different. Buy a new router and change ISP, and we use her address or a variation of mine, we should have no issues ever? We would attach a third party email to her PP and eBay also, and create a second sub checking acct on at her bank as well most likely, to keep funds separated.

May be creating different Windows users (and strictly staying off each others user accounts thereafter when using ebay AND may be PP too) can solve this PC related problem and, may be, also eb@y AND PP cookies cannot link your accounts then. They could link through your mac-address though. Not sure...

You can make a ebay stealth account but it would be more challenging for you to build up a reputation now with the existing competition. People buy only from sellers who have a positive feedback rather than those who are yet to make a sale.
