If person X ignores Y, does Y not see new posts/threads from X too?

A quick digg in the Xenforo forum tells me no, but plugins can be forked or a different plugin with similar but slightly adjusted functionality could have been used.

What’s BHW’s implementation?

Well there are plenty people who apparently have me on their block list, and I still see their shitty posts.

Also the block is pretty pointless. You still see their posts, you just have to click to uncover them. It would be best if some people here where completely ghosted when blocked.

The XenForo default is a one-way ignore, it doesn't hide your posts from others or give any external indication.

On forums where the ignore status is visible, it's not uncommon for the ignored members to create troll alts or start proxy flame wars, so it's probably for the best of BHW keeps the ignore status invisible.

I'm shocked right now, people don't appreciate your sense of humor?! there are many foreign people here, maybe their English sucks, like mine, and they just don't understand your comments don't be so hard on yourself
