Hey there,
In 2020, I’m going to make $100K from non-Instagram related business ventures.
Currently, Instagram is my main source of income, but I want to diversify my revenue streams. I want a completely new, fresh business to kick-start the decade. I’m seeking to challenge myself and push myself out of my comfort zone.
In 2020, I expect my Instagram ventures to exceed over $100K in profit, but that’s not what I’m going to be focused on in this journey. I don’t have any “set plan” on how to proceed with this journey thread, but I have 10 years of internet marketing experience, so I’ll be able to use that to my advantage. In fact, let me tell you what inspired this journey…
Backstory:
I’m obsessed with the idea of self improvement. When I turned 24 years old a few months ago, I made a promise to myself that every year I live on this planet; that year is going to be the best year of my life. I’ve been taking numerous strides to do radically challenging things to my mind and my body so I can come out of 2020 as a much better person than when I entered. This journey thread (among with other things I’ll mention in later threads) is one of those things that will keep me on track to make 2020 MUCH better than 2019.
The crazy thing is: I had an amazing 2019. 2019 was the best year of my life, but I need to do everything I can to make sure that 2020 is the best year yet. There are a lot of things I need to work on, and I’ll detail that soon.
Why I’m Doing This:
I’m doing this because I want some accountability. Technically, I could do this in silence, but I also think that updating this thread can serve a lot of benefits to myself and to the community. I want to be more vocal in 2020 on Black Hat World. I’ve been here for 10 years, and besides posting in my BSTs, I don’t post very frequently elsewhere. I will always feel the need to give back to Black Hat World. This place has helped me so much throughout the years, and if I can provide value to the community while also keeping myself accountable, I’m game.
What I'm Going To Do:
I have some ideas on what I want to experiment with. I think PPC, media buying, affiliate marketing, CPA, and SEO are the things that I could have the best success with. I’ll keep the thread updated with whatever I decide to pursue.
For now, I’ll spend the majority of January devising a plan, learning as much as I can, creating websites, finding offers, and watching tutorials. I most likely won’t be making any substantial money during the first few months, but hopefully I can ramp things up towards the end of 2020 as I figure things out.

This is going to be one of the most difficult things I’ve ever attempted. Starting from nothing and trying to make $100K in a year is going to be incredibly stressful, but I’m excited to make 2020 my best year ever…let’s see if I can do it.

Challenges:
- The first, most obvious challenge I’ll face is this: I don’t have a current gameplan. I have ideas, but I don’t have a set plan. This whole journey thread is me starting from 0 and figuring out how to make a successful business out of thin air. Obviously, this is going to be my biggest obstacle. I’ll update the thread later when I have a more solid plan in mind, but as I’m writing this right now, I don’t have a solid plan.
- I’m also somewhat worried about time constraints. I have businesses that I need to run that already make money, so I can’t necessarily focus 12 hours a day on this journey thread. I’ll need to find a way to prioritize this journey. If I can dedicate 2-3 hours a day, everyday, to this journey, I think that would be ideal.
Rules:
- I can’t spend more than $10K of my own personal money to fund any projects. Ideally, I’d like to keep this number as close to $0 as I possibly can. It’s not a very helpful, relatable journey if I’m spending $99K just to make $100k. The less money I spend, the better.
- Instagram is NOT allowed in any capacity. It would be unfair if I used my current expertise, assets, or current business to reach my goal. I want to challenge myself and start fresh with this journey.
