Question: I asked IG for the account back saying the ban was a mistake. They are asking me to verify, send in a photo of myself holding a paper with the handwritten date, name, and a serial number in the email. Has anyone ever done this before? Worth the effort on a 5-day old account with no followers (I really want the username back haha!). Would a royalty free stock photo with a person holding a blank piece of paper + photoshopped handwriting work?

Plus the account is a girl, and I'm a dude, so already the mustache is a giveaway

For some reason I was not allowed to post the following on the forum due to strict auto-moderation. I'm not sure how the following breaks the rules of the forum. Apologies in advance if the following offends anyone. Several accounts got flagged asking for a phone number. I verified each one using the same phone number IG had profiled out. After each verification instant ban. Lesson learned - use brand new number on every verification, even if the number worked before.

Why care about a 5-day old account anyway?

I know right? haha, but it was my competition's user name with an extra dot.
    example:
    competitorname
    my.name

You have these problems due to a bot you used to create accounts or due to too much like/follow/comment activity.

PVA is a flag that you did something terribly wrong.

Never heard this type of verification . I mean yes , something similar but never as complicated as this. Are you sure, Instagram wants those info?

I don't get why you posted this thread. You either want the account back, so you give it a try, or you don't want it back and you don't busy yourself with it anymore.

If you really need the account back, you may consider hiring a girl that will hold such a handwritten paper for you. Maybe check fiverr.

    Heres the original email

Subject: Re: My Instagram Account Was Deactivated
    Hi,

Thanks for contacting us. Before we can help, we need you to confirm that you own this account. Otherwise, we can't be sure that we're helping the right person.

Please reply to this email and attach a photo of yourself holding a hand-written copy of the code below.

    28388XXXX

The photo you send us must:

    - Include the above code hand-written on a clean sheet of paper, followed by your full name and username
    - Clearly show both the code and your face
    - Be saved and attached to your reply as a JPEG file

Please note that even if your account doesn't include any pictures of you or you use this account to represent someone or something else, we still need a photo that meets all three of the above requirements.

We won't be able to help until we receive a photo that meets these requirements.

    Thanks,

Thanks! Yes I was considering FIVERR. I suspect once they have a face in their system, you can never use that same face again due to advanced facial recognition. Or maybe I'm being paranoid and its a poor offshore worker who merely checks a box and unlocks your account.

why shouldn't it be possible to use the same "face" again? I've never heard it was against their TOS having 2-3 accounts, for instance. Many who do "business" have more than just one account.

I think this type of verification already filters out people who are really interested in getting their account back and those who won't care. Maybe it's also a method for them to have less fake requests.

I don't see any problem in doing this if the account really means anything to you. I get their point of checking if it is really you.

And yes, this kind of verification is coming up lately, had a friend of mine doing this.

Really now did they?! I haven't heard of this. This is extremely strict of them. That's to much to ask.

They always do that when you lose your account and try to appeal to get it back.

I've done it 4-5 times so far. If you send the code your account should be restored in 2-3 days.

I used a huge sheet of art paper. Holding the sign covered my whole face (except eyes) they still accepted

would not risk it, they're intelligent enough to see if the image is photoshoped, it can be done easily by checking levels at an image blablabla... so, unless you're a PRO at photoshop, I would NOT risk it :)

don't forget to paint your nails then. :D
