I have a recipe that allows me to massively upload pictures to my dropbox and it will queue them to my Tumblr, it works great. Now I want to post a link post after every 4 photo posts on Tumblr. I tried creating a recipe using the "N" post and set it all up.. however, the 15 minute delay completely ruins everything. It will just queue up a bunch of photos and not even check how many are being queued.. basically, is there anyway I can make this 'chain reaction' all happen simulateously and instantly? I'm racking my brain over this all morning.. it's getting frustrating.

Why don't you create a new IFTTT account only for your link? Let's say you post your pictures every 5 minutes. With your new account, you post your link every 20-25 minutes.

    You see what I mean?

I have considered this, but the link will be different for every post. What I really need is a bot or something that can read random lines from a text file (each line being a unique URL) and posting it to tumblr every hour/or at least queue it for a specific time . I am trying to find a way to do it in IFTTT but it's looking pretty slim right now.

    Simple solution my friend.
Schedule those link posts with this site: qplus.io

Qplus seems interesting, but it doesn't appear to allow to me post a LINK post on tumblr. It looks like it only takes care of image posts?

You should consider creating your own RSS feed and then populating your Tumblr with this RSS via IFTTT

That is a decent idea, but the problem still lies in the 15 minute delay. I can get the links to queue not problem, but that 15 minute wait time will screw everything up. Basically dozens of images will get queued and then the links will queue once it "polls". It's getting difficult to just get a picture, picture, picture, picture, link.. p, p, p, p, l.. etc... automated. I'm wondering if I have to buy a bot to meet my specific needs?

Another idea: make a blogger blog, make posts with only your links (and what you want to put with your links), and shcedule them (you can schedule their posting) : a post every 20-25 minutes. Then, with IFTT, make a recipe, like IF a new post with my blogger blog, THEN a new tumblr post with Title and/or content (if you want to post only your links, you can put it in the title of your blogger posts, you don't need to have content).

Great idea, and I think that could work. Right now I am trying to get a chain reaction using the IF email, it says that the action is triggered immediately if you send an email to [email protected] or whatever, so I think I'm one step closer. But the blogger/rss feed is another good idea.. if I figure it out, I will update you all.

I would get a bot to do both from a spreadsheet. Simple columns: Media/Link | Type of Post

I havent played around with the email portion of Tumblr but you can easily schedule emails or bot that as well.

So it appears that IFTTT does not allow link posts through Tumblr, not sure if this is an anti-spam thing or what.. but even doing some simple tests have confirmed this. Why they even show this as an "option" is beyond me, but I'm pretty pissed off that I just wasted like 4 hours of my morning to figure this out. Now seeking solutions outside of IFTTT, qplus doesn't allow link posts either.. so I guess I'm gonna need a bot. I like the spreadsheet idea, not trying to spend a fortune on this project though.

No. the solution is simple. RSS your photos + link. Every post has 1 photo + link. 3/4 links are '#' and the 4th is the good one you want.
then rss to tumblr photo post via ifttt with link in description and you're set.
