If your Blackhat sites receive a penalty, will your Whitehat sites also get penalized?

Let's assume you have 2 websites, Site A and Site B. Site A uses 100% White Hat SEO and Site B uses some Black Hat and Grey Hat SEO. There are no links between either of these sites but you got both of them registered in the Google Search Console and Google Webmaster Tools.

One day, site B gets penalized by Google. Will Site A remain safe? What if Site A is also hosted on the same server as Site B?

I know, hosting a White Hat site on the same server as a Black Hat site could be playing with fire but I'm curious if anyone has actually gotten their White Hat sites penalized because Google found out you also own some Black Hat sites so they penalized ALL of your sites across the board.

I'm asking this because I'm considering using some Grey/Black hat strategies (i.e. PBNs) on some sites that I've put a lot of work into but have failed to rank as a last ditch effort. If those sites are receiving effectively 0 traffic and you use Black Hat on them and get them penalized, then they'll still just be receiving 0 traffic. But if the penalty also ends up killing my White Hat sites, I'm probably gonna have to rethink this strategy. Thanks.

Edit: Again, I repeat for the 1000th time: NO LINKS exist between Site A and Site B nor do I have any intentions of linking the two sites with each other!!!!!

Never link your WH sites to your BHW sites in anyway. Makes sense to keep them separated doesn't it?

Yeah, I know.. I'm assuming the Black and White hat sites are not linked to either party in the question.

What I'm paranoid about is if you receive a penalty, will Google then see your other sites (say through the Search Console) and penalize all of them as well even if they're 100% White Hat and not linked to from any of your Black Hat sites.

Why would you have your BH and WH sites together?
Like I said, I would not have any connection between my WH & BH sites and that includes using the same Search Console/WMT accounts.

Keep your BH sites separate from your WH sites. And that includes separate hosting and webmaster tool( if you use one).

Because they were all originally planned several months ago to be White Hat sites but some of them have failed to rank.. and I could not foresee from then which sites will be successful and which won't so they were all grouped together in the same Search console account.

So it's more of an strategic decision in the present to consider using Black Hat on some of the failed sites.

Point taken but it's probably too late for that (the decision to consider going Black Hat was made on day 200 or so rather than day 0.)

I messed up once the same way you did, and throughout time BH site became penalized. I have had a WH domain at the same Webmaster Console and it didn't become penalized. It is not penalized after all this time.

p.s. By WH, I mean a domain that doesn't have any link build with a tool.

I'm guessing that your WH site is against google guidelines as well. You people think you're doing "white hat" shit and then spam shitty links everywhere and say "omg my site is white hat!" Not it's not.

So, if they are linked in some way and the wh site has been up to no good, then it's possible but Google is not about penalizing people across the board on all sites unless you have a serious spam network going.

The WH site started ranking after one of its pages that got shared on Tumblr went viral. It's mostly relying on social shares and an occasional Reddit or Stumbleupon submission. The vast majority of its backlinks are nofollow accoring to ahrefs.

If you haven't built links to it and it isn't shitty content, then I doubt Google will ban across the board on 2 sites. It's a case by case basis for this stuff and some of it is automated, but if the wh site isn't throwing low quality signals (like those supposed wh backlinks everyone thinks are within guidelines...wrong) then you will be fine.

    Please define "link".

I've already mentioned in my original post that no links exist between Site A and Site B. By "link", are you implying a more metaphorical "link" or connection between the two sites like being listed under the same Google Search Console account?

Use separate GSC/WMT accounts for your WH/BH sites, ideally use a separate account for each BH site and if you are going really dark then don't use any Google product.

When we are talking about linking here, we aren't talking about backlinks we are talking about footprints.
You can delete any sites you want to experiment on from GSC then wait awhile to start your BH testing.
