well cats and dogs are already crowded space so it wouldn't be that. Maybe parrots or lions

Mantis Shrimp (most badass animal EVER)
Glaucus Atlanticus
Indonesian Mimic Octopus
Axolotl
Have fun writing!

Choose an animal, for example a cat, but then, dig a little deeper by choosing a special race like persian.

Any animal that would interest you. If you were to write an animal you weren't interested you'll probably give up in a couple of days writing
