If you screen capture an image, does it make it unique in the eyes of big G?

I stumbledupon Pixlr Grabber and thought hmmm...maybe I can grab an image instead of directly dling it next time. Is it considered the same image if I do this according to G?

Considered the fact that you can now search for images I guess not. But if you have a different size... it will probably be consider unique to a certain degree.

But if someone were to change the pictures into 'paintings' using photoshop would be considered unique?

Right, if you add some effects with photoshop or something, isn't that "spinning" like how we do with text but is with image now?

Well, google can find out if it is completely unique or not. But I doubt they will really use so much resources per image on the web (there are a lot of them).

So basically: I really don't know and don't think that anyone can know for sure (unless someone found the entire google algorithm).

I'm sure changing from color to b/w and then into painting and maybe mess around with it a little more, would help it stay up longer.

An easy way is to "mirror" the image in any image editor.

From my experience with image processing during M.Sc. Google can do that easily. Things like rotation/blurring/noising/resizing wouldn't help you. But add a couple of new elements to the image and the task becomes less trivial - for example write some text across it.

So I should make "memes" for each image I DL then. Write something at the bottom, like.... "U MAD BRO?"

What about the combination of mirroring+changing to b/w+making it a painting ?

So are we saying that if you have the same image across a network of sites you own, or just across one site you own, change URL locations of the image, change image sizes, and ALT text, google can still see its the same image because its now using image recognition technology???

do you really think google cares about image being unique or not? i don't think they will care. your images will not get indexed in google image search unless you have an alt text to the image.

Writing small inscription at the bottom wouldn't help you much, the changes must be dominant. Putting a white bunny over the ass of naked actress wouldn't matter as well. Or rather... thats depends on the size of the ass - and yes i'm mad. :)

The simplest method to check whether image is the same is auto-correlation: its prone to mirroring, resizing, b/w and noise. Minor painting effect in this case is just a noise. So neither of the above will help.

p.s. I dont know whether Google uses image recognition algorithms or not. All I know is that its easy and very fast procedure to tell whether two images are the same.

Damit man, with that much work involved, sometimes is just better to just take a damn new pic with a camera. Eat that big G! I'm gonna game u hardcore with this method! :pirate:

Seriously tho, for pics that are tough to get uniques...I'll screen capture 2 pics together side by side and put something on the bottom. Would that be unique you think?

Change the image title and clear off any meta data. That should make it unique.

So the images searches use OCR? I figured they checked the actual code of the image.

You could always find out, pick then download someones image, run it through http://www.tineye.com/ to make sure it finds it. Then screen capture the image and run it through and see if it finds it again? If it does mess with it using the ideas posted and find out. Wouldn't take long and better then relying on opinions.
