Site A is 301 redirecting to Site B.
Site A got hit with Penguin.
It passed the penalty on to Site B.
If I remove the 301 redirect, will the penalty be removed from site B?
I should know this, but I don't. Anyone who does?

It should in theory but it depends on Google and how it reacts to Site B.

Often times, Google will not fix a problem or issue, so if a site gets penalized, it is pretty much over.

does the penalty passes when you redirect Site A (the one the got hit) to Site B?

both penguin and panda? or only for Panda? because i thought that when you redirect, it will removed the penalty. or maybe it will remove for a short span of time?

It's not "over". Cutts just said at some conference that both penguin and panda are definitely algorithmic updates, and not filters. Don't know if he's lying but apparently its possible to recover from penguin.

i think it will removed the penalty. We will try that. and see how the Big reacts.

I personally do not believe a word of what Matt Cutts says.

He says, "build a site, do no link building, and the visitors will come."

Those who listen to him often times do not succeed whereas the competitors build thousands of links and rank on the first page.

No the penalty would not go away. You will end up with 2 penalised sites.

Site A 301 to Site B & passed penalty to Site B. Upon removing the 301, Site B remains penalised even though
the 301 is removed.

At least it didn't work for me.

I have an alternative for removing the 301? did you try DF?
