Hello, I'm new to dedicated server, I thought I was going to get 100mb/s speed as it says on the site but when I logged in to remote desktop and test the speed, I only got 1.2 mb/s ? Is this normal ? there is also an upgrade to 1000 mb/s, how much do u think I will get if I upgrade, finally, what speed do you guys get, I need to use xrumer.

    Thanks

You might be confusing megaBITS with megaBYTES. Ones abbreviated mb, other MB, Totally different animals.

Either way he may be getting jibbed....

To be honest although I dont have a dedicated server, i would think it would be "Best condition" speeds of 100mb/s. Much like your ISP cant gurantee the speed of your line, a host is unlikely to be able to gurantee 100% speeds for you.

Even so, if your speed test is correct. 1/mb or even mB is a tad slow.

Even though its bit/byte conversion, I still should get 12.5 mb /s right ? but I'm getting 1.2 mb/s ? so they shared the speed connection, can u pls advice which server package or which site should I go with to get atleast 10 mb/s.

    Thanks

Are you sure they're providing 100mb/s for a dedicated server? cause getting a 100mb/s dedicated line will cost you a fortune..

Yep, it did cost me a fortune, $220/month !

I was thinking if I would get back the refund and find another server, all I want is 20mb/s speed, 1 gb ram, 20 gb hdd, 2000 gb banswidth/month, windows server and cheapest.

Anyone operate the server and can sell me vps/dedicated server for the above spec ?

price is not a problem as long as its fair.

    Hey man,

So you said you got a 100 megabit connection. This means that you can put through up to 12.8 megabytes a section but that depends if the line is dedicated or not. Another major factor is the distance between to your server.

For $220 that seems a bit overpriced. Is the server managed?

If you want a cheap server you could get those specs for $80 on a dedicated 100mbit line at joesdatacenter.com really top notch over there!

Give me a PM if you need any more help :D

The thing is, I dont understand how you are testing the speed. If you are testing it from remote desktop from your computer, then your home connection would be throttling the speed.

on 100mb/s speed you should get avg 10mb download/upload
$220 is to much expensive for this kind of server.
the avg price should be 60-70euro.

you can test the full speed with utorrent , if you need help to setting uttorent pm me.
the home connection have nothing to do with your server speed.

You can have per-session speed limit. This means that you can have 100 clients downloading at speed of 1Mbps, but not 1 client with 100Mbps. Just ask your support if you're not sure :)
