Let’s say you already have a bunch of nice videos ready to upload (recovered from an old channel that didn’t work out), and you’re building this new channel around self-branding and sponsorships, not just ad revenue.

You want to save as much time as possible and not waste the content.
What would you do?

Would you:

  • Create a brand new channel? If so, how would you structure the uploads, knowing some of those videos might get “burned” before monetization kicks in?
  • Start with long-form or Shorts first? I’ve heard it’s risky to start with Shorts only — that it might hurt the algorithm signals.
  • Buy an old, empty YouTube account (no videos, aged, not monetized)?
  • Buy an old account with videos, then private them?
  • Buy a monetized channel (no videos)? Risky, especially if it was botted or might get banned.
  • Buy a channel already in your niche with content that aligns (even if you'd pivot the brand)?

Any other smart strategy you’d recommend for someone building a channel for the long haul?

Thanks in advance for your insights

I'd just start a new channel, long form content and invest most of my time, energy and money in creating something with enough quality to be watchable. I'm not very good at editing videos, so I'd prefer to hire someone. As you can see, my priority would be the quality of the videos...It doesn't matter if you buy an aged channel from 2008 if your videos suck

Do not buy or create new account, use my old aged personal YT account so Shorts algo works + YT algo works as expected, so they know no bot stuff here.. imho most important to start with nice account that is able to rank high

YouTube is interesting, but I see a very hot niche for videos on Facebook, they pay well too, it's interesting to reuse the same videos to monetize on Facebook too

Yes but if your videos don't suck I read some guys have more favors on ranking and others things.

Do some research.
See what's working.
Test your pick.
There's no 100% success formula.

Repurpose your old videos into a free three part mini course. Invite your first subscribers into a beta group for feedback, it builds community and hooks them right away.

I will start with shorts only. It is the easiest way to gain subscribers and then you can push long form content to them also.

Hey,

- you can either create a brand new channel, or buy a monetized channel that is active, a channel that gets 10-20k views every 48 hours in minimum.

- Start with long form if you want to earn better and short form for quick views and increasing subscribers

- aged channels do not make much difference, look for activity, does the channel get views.

- again while buying a monetized channel check for the quality of the channel and check the reviews of that seller.

- you can always buy channels that focuses on another niche and you can change the content, there will be a short term drop in subscribers and views, but it will eventually go up because youtube will start promoting your videos to the right audience , so focus on the quality of your content.

Goodluck.
