There's an exact match domain available for a very high volume keyword BUT it's a bit long (12 characters) or go with a shorter, easy to remember and brandable domain name?

Comment your opinion and vote in the poll please.

I voted BRAND because that's what google forces people to get. I purchased an EMD last year in an obscure niche and not even there can I get any boost. Sure, Bing and DuckDuckGo are all over this domain, they love it like it's their favorite child, but.... haven't gotten a single click from Bing, Yahoo, and DDG, so.....

Just go with branded domains...

Why not go with both ?

EMDs still work, but brandable domains are often easier to sell.

like already mentioned, i would go with both.
if you create 2 sites, you have more reach and might get more traffic.
then you could also do a A/B test for yourself which domain performs better.

EMDs could be useful only with easy to rank niches/keywords,
They do not have any real obvious advantage within the competitive ones,
Brand domains are much better to use in such cases as they will provide a much better UX and will do help you to create a brand authority over time (easier to remember, recommend, etc...)

Keyword domain = canonical/shows up in search results
Brand domain = 301 redirect, used when creating backlinks

a nice brand domain can do wonders whether you want it for your own project or sell it.

Brand Domains

However, if the EMD is short, simple and to the point I may still consider

EMD for blog and brand for business. For rest, anything goes.

I think a branded domain will increase CTR, make it look more legit and then easier to sell.

It depends on the niche.
It's little easier to rank EMD compared to brand.
