One of my site got deindex recently - no "site:" result and no domain name search result.

I've read that when you got deindexed, an alert will be shown on your webmaster tools, and a link to request reconsideration will be there.

Thing is, I don't see any alert/notification on my webmaster tools and started to think that - may be it just something I setup wrong that got the site deindex by itself?

I've checked and all the page still have index/follow. But the sitemap.xml is broken for a few weeks until now and I didn't aware of that.

The site in question is an auto blog with just 1,000 pages.

    Any input on these?

I don't think Google puts an alert on your site if it deindexed your site.

You can however search on google for the re inclusion form and they will reply back with their thoughts on your site.
