WEll i feel this way at godaddy, today i registered a domain, i tough i had everything put properly. You know how it is the scamming jungle of godaddy checkout.

After receiving invoice, i had the domain registered for 5 years. Now i'm waiting to see if godaddy will reverse it. I buy about 10 domains a week, and i buy them for 1 year, after a year, if they make money i'll renew.

Anyways just fell like godaddy is bs. Thinking of moving all my domains to name DOT com

I thin that's the default when you go into the checkout. I always have to change mine.

maybe so, just feel like godaddy is this scam used car dealership.

Well maybe they are doing some thing right, since they make lots of money.

godaddy or any registrar can cancel domain registrations within two days of registering, you can try canceling and registering.
not sure about changing the duration of registration.

Well, ever here the saying "read everything before you sign anything"? This applies. Also. Maybe you clicked the wrong thing because they have never forced an upsell on me. They just try to with the annoying as babies in a library checkout.
Besides, if you register that many domains, you should have known better....

i always scroll down to the bottom and hit the no thanks button - and then double check everything at checkout...

theyre basically upselling, but not a cool way, it is very misleading

you always, always have to check your final total with godaddy. They are the undisputed king of upselling. If you really think about it, it's a pretty genius thing to do, it just sucks when they do it to you.

    I know what you mean.

I added some domains and my bill was like $80. I was like wtf!

So I had to manually change everythign back to 1 year (what I wanted), remove the BS "business registration" they add to everything, etc., and in the end, my total was $35. Much better.

The worst part about godaddy is that they do market to relative computer/internet noobs. As I would think most of us here are pretty good with the internet/computers (just assuming), and even they catch us sometimes with some bullshit if we are not vigilant during the checkout process.

Now imagine when older/less internet savvy folks go to sign up with them. You could basically go in with like 10 bucks towards a domain and end up walking out with a $100 plus bill, and not even understand how it happened. It is good marketing on their part in a way....but still real shady.

    name.com is a great choice :)

    Coupon code : SupaSauce

saves a bit on .net and .com domains.

its called upselling, almost all fast food restaurants do it too.

i use 1and1 for my domains now, since godaddy is a big ripoff.

Well i totally agree that i should know better, and i should pay more attention.

But some days your just tired and on auto pilot and you make mistakes.

Also Godady has a 5 day cancel order. I did cancel it and waiting for refund in my paypal.
