If you are an associate of amazon.co.uk, can I still get commissions from US visitors?

Title says it all. Can American people buy through my amazon.co.uk affiliate link? I can only use the check payment for amazon.com, because I live in the Netherlands. Should I use amazon.com or co.uk, I'm an affiliate of both.

nope, they dont and why will us visitors buy on amazon.co.uk? they use amazon.com which has its own seperate affiliate program

And reversed? Can english people pay through amazon.com? And how will this work with ebay?

They are different. US affiliate for the US and Uk for the UK. Either give two links based on locations or create a script that will redirect based on the ip etc.

In the past I actually asked amazon these questions and they said I had to be an affiliate of both. Hope that clears it up.

So if a American visitor would click my amazon.co.uk affiliate link, I would still get the commission if he buys anything? Or do I need to put up both links? I still need to post amazon links, I haven't done it before, so these might be noob questions. But I wanted too clear this up first.

I am affiliate from both the US and the UK website and i searched a bit for it. Didnt find anything. If you click on a US link it says that you cant buy due to the address etc and it redirects you to the UK site without keepting the id tags .

So you don't know for sure, if your affiliate link still applies to American people? Also how do you recieve payments with amazon.com? Did you open an American bank account?

My US link applies only for people located in the US and my UK only for Europe where UK amazon ships in the Europe .I currently use my US account since my site is mostly searched by US citizens. If a uk citizen clicks and goes to the us amazon and then to the uk and buys i get absolutely nothing.

I dont have an American bank account so i used my UK account. Sort code and account number is what you will need.

You should really think of them as separate affiliate programs for separate sites. If you're building a site aimed at the US market go for amazon.com, and if you're building a site aimed at the UK market then go for amazon.co.uk. I live in the UK so I get direct deposits for amazon.co.uk and checks from amazon.com. As already stated, if a visitor tries to buy from the incorrect site they get redirect to the other without your affiliate link so you wouldn't get the commission.

If you want to build a site for both markets then you could use a script that redirects people to the appropriate amazon site based on their location so you get the commission in both affiliate programs. If you're using WordPress then you could have a look at this plugin which does the redirection for you:

Code:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/az-one/

You can also complicate matters even further by signing up for the Canadian, French, German and Japanese Amazon affiliate programs too :)

Basically, If an american clicks on your UK link and buys something from UK amazon, I would imagine you would get paid. But this will never happen.

When they get directed to USA amazon, I am of the understanding that the tracking is lost.

If you get both uk and usa traffic to your site, you need to supply a uk link AND a USA Link.

I did it with flags. Just an idea :D

The tracking is something like id=yourtrackingcode+productid etc
When you go to a different amazon, it is removed.

Why don't you use the AZ-one plugin provided in this thread? But will this plugin work in combination with wp robot?
