soooo... just started Mad Men, I'm sure most of you have seen or heard of it.
Everytime I watch the show my wife tells me... this is your life in the 60's

Do you think we are all "ad men"..?

Oh, don't glorify yourself, as if your life was as interesting as Drapers =). I did buy a 56' white gold Bulova that was sported in the show. Quite the underlining I was induced to purchase something from a show who's subject revolves about hurling the sheep for mass consumption. And as now we all life in the now future the outcome has been solidified into (drum-role) Wall-mart.

Manhattan, really do wish I lived there childhood dreams tarnished. It really was an interesting time in marketing as super companies that we know today were just getting started and building there strong hold on America and the world ie Coca-Cola, McDonald's. I would say today's marketing is the re-awakening of a business that was bare near extinction but what do I know? Send me a pm regarding the services you offer website, god luck on all future endeavors.

Love the show, will finally be caught up on the latest season by the end of tonight.

I'm pretty sure the show is just a huge ad for cigarettes though; big tobacco companies advertising smoking... without the need for commercials lol

It seemed like back in the 50s and 60s working in a corporate office could be fun. Everyone had liquor in their office.

Never watched the show but I get what you're saying OP and I think the shoe fits. Don't feel like it sometime but the internet is still a little baby and we are pioneers. The world is ours.

I don't think it's an exact equivalent... Don Draper is a creative who thinks up advertising campaigns. We're more in the trenches, involved in the nitty gritty of generating traffic and converting it. There is some advertising creativity but mostly IM is about generating traffic. Don Draper wouldn't personally handle any of the ad buying or placements... That would be handled by the underlings.
