It is good if you can afford it. It isn't if you can't.

For Mybb, I am pretty sure there are plenty of hosts out there.

You know a forum means lot of people visiting that, that means the server usage will also high.

It depends if you can promote the forum adequately. It could range from millions of visits to barely a dozen visits per month. Like any other page. If you also choose a good software for the forum like Invision or Xenforo, it will be able to handle visits without much resources. I believe that myBB will be also to handle a good amount. Other systems like bbPress or wordpress based forums are not so good (although with plugins like GD bbPress toolbox it has improved a ton over the last months)

It can handle a lot of traffic. And initially the traffic will be limited, you need lot of time to grow a forum.

AWS free tier ? Hell no. You can see yourself the limits of free tier and it can easily exceed those once your forum gets a few active users. Your best bet would be to signup for oracle free tier. They offer a whopping 10TB traffic/month, 24GB RAM, 200GB storage, 4Core server for free (ARM instances). For peace of mind, upgrade the account to Pay-as-you-go so that your account won’t disappear overnight(oracle is notorious for terminating free accounts on a whim).
