I wish I had months to test my plan on a site that doesn't matter..in reality I don't have that time.

If things go sour, I don't want my 20 + hrs to go to waste. How hard is it to move the exact site to a different domain?

Yes it is. Can you point me towards any reference material? Or who could I pay?

There is a detailed explanation here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

If the new domain is with the same host then it's even easier, they will probably do it for you. It's just a case of making a few changes to your database and MySql

Yes, it will be with the same host.

So the video, images, H1 tags, internal linking will be exactly the same?

Moving a WordPress install is easy:

a: Make an ftp backup of your entire public_html or www directory
b: Make a backup of the database in .csv (Is it .csv I can't remember?)
c: Upload the lot to your new hosting
d: 301 your old domain over to the new one.

It's as simple as that really. You might have to change one or two options in your wordpress once it's switched over and perhaps modify like one .php file but that's it.

    Your talking an hours work.

    Yes,

If the copied all the content then it will be exactly like your other site. Just make sure to update your permalinks once you are in your new install...

Search for backup buddy. I think there's a copy in the download section.

Here's a video that has removed all my headaches when transferring my sites to a new host. I hope it helps you.

Make a backup in cPanel. Download that backup and move all the files public_html folder to your new host. Create a database with the same name, plus a user with the same name and pass with full privileges. Restore mysql through myphpadmin and change the collation to utf8_general or whatever it is to match the tables.

Just follow the video if you get lost. I hope it helps you :)

When I move the site to a new domain, do the old inbound links come with the site to the new domain?

As long as nothing has changed then backlinks pointing to your site will point correctly to it. If you do a backup and restore on the new server nothing should have changed. Just make sure you are pointing your domain to the new nameservers when you make the switch.

If you're dumping the 'domain' and moving the contents to a new domain YES you will lose backlinks. The link pointing to your site will be linking to the dumped domain not the new one.

Ok, the reason I am asking is because I a doing some pretty aggressive backlinking and if I get penalized, I want to move the same site to another domain and start again.

How do I delete the old one??

Just use wp duplicator. It copies the database and transfers everything to the new site. It even changes the internal links if they have the old domain in them. Easy. I've used it a few times.

    Code:
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/
    HTH

If you're hosting on linux and have ssh access, all you need to do is rsync the files over to the new site. Then backup / recover the database on the new host.
