If you are a current or former user of PayPal in the United States who had an active PayPal account between April 19, 2006 and November 5, 2015, this Notice describes your rights and potential benefits from a class action settlement.

This website summarizes a proposed class action settlement of claims brought against PayPal, Inc. (“PayPal”) and eBay Inc. (“eBay”) (together, “Defendants”). The Settlement resolves a lawsuit in which Plaintiffs allege that PayPal improperly handled disputed transactions on PayPal accounts and improperly placed holds and reserves on accounts or closed or suspended accounts. Plaintiffs also allege that PayPal failed to provide annual error-resolution notices and monthly account statements under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act.

You are part of the Settlement if you had an active PayPal account between April 19, 2006 and November 5, 2015.

You are part of the Settlement and also may be eligible to submit a Claim for a cash payment if you had a hold or reserve placed on your account and/or your account was closed or suspended by PayPal between April 19, 2006 and November 5, 2015.

The two sides disagree on whether Plaintiffs would have won at trial.

Your legal rights are affected whether you act or don’t act. Read this website carefully.

It's a class action suit. IANAL but the text implies you can try to recover $ if it was withheld in this period.

    You don't keep records?

2006 to 2015 is a long time and I recall tons of other threads by BHW members complaining about Paypal withholding funds. I would assume that lots of folks who felt unfairly treated in the past would be able to recover some $.

I actually read it and one of the terms of the settlement is that PP has to provide reasons why they limit accounts, unless they can't for "security reasons." Which means they can still limit accounts for no reason and site "security reasons" as an excuse to keep your money. So again, you can recover your money, but the class action suit resolved dick all.

Not trying to argue or put people off from claiming their money. Just saying that you can recover what they owe you, but the company will still continue to operate the same as before.

In case you can't tell, I hate them.

BUT I do wonder if this suit was one of the reasons they seperated PP and eBay. To my understanding, some of the lost accounts were eBay merchant accounts.

If enough people do recover their $, this might make a change in their attitude.
If the settlements are a few thousand dollars then you're probably right this won't change anything.

If you're eligible, you should have received an email. I got one about 6 months ago, maybe longer, since PayPal decided to hold 15% of all my income because I had a random influx of Chargebacks because someone used a bunch of stolen CCs. I argued with them so many times about this and I'm glad they finally are paying the price for their bullshit.
