I was reading on the forum, and I user explaining how MS and Traffic Travis are no good after the Penguin update. I wanted to know, what is a good KW research tool to use then, to use along with Google Keyword tools?

You will get various opinions on this but it is probably just better to learn to do it manually.

Yeah, I've done it manually, with mixed results or nearly similar. I hear so many suggestions (TT, MS, Long tail, and micro niche finder, scrapebox), it would be nice to find one I can compare with my manual work.

I use scrapebox to scrape keywords and then save them into a .txt file. Then I import the list into ultimate niche finder and find out the search data (amount of searches, cpc...). Then filter out searches below a certain amount (ie. -1000 searches unless it has a big cpc) and find out which keywords have an exact match domain. Alot of the time, if it has all TLDs free, it means that not many people are targeting that keyword. Once I have my list of kws, I manually check the top 10 and see what the comp. is like

I'm also using scrapebox. It makes my work easier compared to other tools.

Thats a lot of manual work, especially checking one by one. I hope you have time to take care of the actual site in the end.

After researching with Google Keyword Planner, you can check the difficulty with Moz Keyword Difficulty Tool and check the domains with godaddy mass domain checker

I've been using Term Explorer for a while now and am satisfied. Traffic Travis is also decent.

I still like Longtailpro as a means of bulk checking top 10s, but I feed it keywords manually - from ubersuggest, scrapebox, G. Keyword planner.
