If I write an article on my website and redirect that page to the homepage, is that bad?

I wrote an article and perfectly optimized it with my keyword. The article shows up #1 in the SERPS. However I want users to see the homepage of the website, not the article page. If I program the article page to redirect site visitors to the home page once they click the link, will I lose my rankings?

If you redirect this content page to your homepage, you will be ranked eventually for the homepage, not the article. Why would you want to do this?

The homepage is the best part of the website. Talks about the company, all the services, has a good looking slider, all the contact info and social media buttons. More likely to convert any leads that visit the site as opposed to them just going to the page with the article and not maybe not knowing it's a business website but just a random article found on a site
