I redirected a page to a new url i want to rank in G.

However the old page was still showing in my recent posts.

So I hid it in the post options.

But will this also block google form seeing the redirect and passing juice to the new page?

Redirects best work when your old page doesn't exists anymore :-) so from my understanding of your issue, you're fine!

Google shouldn't care if the old page is private or not, it sees the redirect and drives traffic directly to the new page - Google assumes the page is not there anymore.

well my question was whether google will see the redirect when it crawls for the page if i set the old url to private, because the redirect is a plugin i used via the old page.

yes, Google will see the redirect. Let's say Google crawled your old page and has it indexed. When Google crawls it again and finds a redirect, it will follow to the new page. But maybe I still get it wrong - what plugin are u using?
