I've never scanned anything before. If I scan a book page, will I then have the ability to like copy and paste the words, or are scans in picture format.

I want to quickly scan a page from a book and paste the contents in to wordpress.

I don't believe that you can do that.

Yes, you can. You can select words in scans pdf.

Also there is tools in scanning software like omnipage that enable you to convert scans to text.

Yes it will come in picture format but there are certain software that can convert it to text for you (search this on google). Also certain all-in-one printers come with this software, such that you can select this when scanning. Also i think microsoft imaging has something like this.

Lets hope some member with better knowledge comes along soon but first just try searching google im sure you'll find a pointer. Good luck

it will be in picture format, there are programs that will translate the image into text though. This is called OCR software (Optical Character Recognition).
This is an online tool that will do this for you ;) http://asv.aso.ecei.tohoku.ac.jp/tesseract/

No you can't copy and paste unless you use a OCR converter .. convert the Jpeg to .doc ..
The best award winning software is Omnipage ! I have used it in the past ..
However its a bit slow .. may be of my pc hardware specification .

hit thanks if my information is helpful !
