I would like to write a book (kindle) on an topic that I am very knowledgeable in and that I have some websites on. I also have a following so G sees me as an authority in the topic.

Right up until a few days a go I was looking to build a website for the book. I make the title of the book with some big keyword that I target, so I would also have the website being a partial EMD with the big keyword. Obviously now with the EMD Google update, I don't know whether to do this or not.

Considering that this would be a white hat website, that the websites that I have on this topic are also white hat, and that I would write the book from a serious point of view (I'm an authority) and there would be demand for the book would you:

    1) Build website with keyword in domain. Keyword is a big one. Competition, however, is weak for 1st page.

    2) Build website but forget about putting keyword. Putting the keyword in the book title and domain makes it look weird. Just go with a creative title and forget about including KW in domain.

    3) Forget about building a website for the book itself and just pimp the book on the other websites.

I am asking from both a SEO point of view (get some benefit from KW in domain of site) and also as an author (if it's good to have a site specific to book). I would include some articles in the website but it would be a static site ideally with occasional updates. My SEO knowledge is not sufficient to rank for strong KWs though, so I'm relying on people linking to the site because they like the book plus interviews.

Anyone's opinion, from BHs/Whs to kindle authors would very much be welcomed :)

As your building your self as an authority, i'd do a site that brands you and have a page on there optermised for the book.

As for the title so long as the keyword does nt look shoehorned in I'd use it as it helps with relevancy on amazon search

I actually have a site for myself already in which I cover the topic among others. Problem is that I dont include the keyword in the domain of my current site and I am seeing sites with same PR and backlinks ranking on first page with KW in domain.

I will certainly use my current site to pimp the book and what not (and dedicate a page optimized for G for the book), but I was thinking of a site exclusively dedicated to the book. I still think that having the KW in domain is relevant so long as backlinks are legit and there is shareable content (which I will work on). I am also intending on doing interviews and putting links in interviews pointing to the site for the book.

I see some authors have a site for their book while others dont. And the authors I've seen include the KW in the domain but as for the latest updates, I am not sure how a new site with a partial EMD will fare. I have partial EMDs that have a good age and good quality content that benefitted from this last G update, but a new partial EMD??? not so sure.

Howmuch monthly searches does your keyword have? did you only check broad searches or did you check exact searches as well?

About 100,000. Yep, they are exact searches.
