If you buy a website that is already ranking for keywords related to your niche, why not build a website around it and see if it will rank rather than 301's it?

If you keep the same content, then it should. Otherwise probably not although the rankings may improve..

Buying it and redirecting would not keep it for a very long time. Just wait for google bot to come, index and throw you out.

Keep both sites and link from that u buy. You will see 10x better results. G put a leash on 301 redirects because the tehnique was abused big time.

I did something like that before, redirecting my old website to my new one. But it seems that there's no impact on my new site (if we're talking about rank for the new site). I did get some traffics from the old site as referrer but if it's about ranking on the new one, I don't think redirecting helps the new site to rank.

Maybe it works before and yeah, it was abused before, bigtime.

Take exact content from the page currently ranking and put it on the other domain on a page with your keyword in the URL. Use the same title tag, etc. Then 301 the ranking page to the new page. Google will essentially swap out the old page for the new one. This is 100% legit and not frowned upon by Google.

Also, if your current site has some authority and ranks well already for other terms, you might see an increase in rankings from the site's authority.

Why not make or find such sites in your niche and create a PBN
