Well basically, i have some contacts who do some very shady offline promotion and it'll really really help my ROI at the moment.

If i anonymously register a new domain with a registrar, and the government opened up a criminal/civil case against me, would the registrar have to give my details up? or will they not actually have them?

Cheers for any help,

Jammie

Gov't can summons the registar for the information, even if you have registered anonymously. What they must provide is what you have provided them in the first place.

This is going to get stickier as time goes on - big brother has eyes on the interent economies...RJ

needs to be a UK domain.

Problem is its basically a huge publicity stunt, will drive huge amounts of targeted traffic and could go horribly wrong.

I've had another idea which i know is illegal, but the risk isn't anywhere near as high. I'll look into it later though. I doubt anyone would really care about this offence as its only a small one.

But i guess i'll provide a few minor fake details and see where it gets me!

UK? come on, they track you even if you just want to buy a cell phone

They have total control and can access anything at any time.
There's no hiding... any hiding you may do is only temporary.
NOTHING is untracable. Wear a Black Hat but don't kid yourself
and wear a Dick Head's Hat...ok?

Get a vcc, open a paypal account, buy the domain with it. Fill out whatever the hell you want for personal info on all sides.

N - Use a proxy at the very least.

I got a way to do this and it looks like fun!

You can always try https://www.anonymousspeech.com. That's where I host and register all my blackhat domains and websites.

I register my domains as web designer. What I mean is I invent a fake client, then I register in their name but pay for the domain through my business.

Just a thought.

Just remember, in prison your blackhat will be filled with raffle tickets to see who gets to take the next turn in a hysterical game called "Ok, Bubba. You hold Jammie down now. I like it when he squirms." :)

You can't make it impossible for them to find you if you are the one who actually does the registration, even proxies leave trails that a motivated searcher with governmental level influence can find.

But if it isn't you on the other end of the keyboard, and it's a virtual credit card, from say... I don't know... India? You could probably get away with it.

Especially if it's just a minor offense you're talking about.

If you make to really difficult to find you, and it's not a bank robbery, meh. I don't know about british cops but in the US, for a "publicity stunt", they wouldn't spend 15 minutes trying to find you in the scenario I laid out.

Cop 1 to Cop 2: "It's registered from where?"

Cop 2: "India."

Cop 1: "... fuck it. I'll have a jelly filled with sprinkles. Did you watch the game last night?"

:)

heh thanks for the heads up.

Its nothing very illegal, its hard to explain without details, but i doubt cops would really care.

No one could get hurt apart from my friend who will help me out with it all. It'd be a shame i wouldn't be able to admit to it either if i go through with it, because its actual marketing genius!

Dont ever use godaddy for it.I once faked the information, they locked my account and never gave my domain back to me.

Remember, if you have any of your details in the registrar they will find you, even with privacy protection.

If you put false details on the domain they can delete it - so you take your chances and put false info in it and go through a proxy, but then how do you pay for the domain.

It would be a tough one in my opinion!

I have also heard good things about anonymousspeech.com but they have been down the past couple of days (hence cannot open up new accounts).

As per my thinking if fraud or illegal thing is too big government can easily find you out from any corner of the earth

You said that it could go "horribly wrong" and its nothing 'very illegal'.

Depending on what that really means is whether or not they would invest their time and money with you. There's not a single person or business who's going to take a fall for you (or anyone) if they are required to give up the information on you, less they become part of your scheme.

You can click, but you can't hide. Like chc89 said if they really want you for what you did they'll spend whatever money and time to find you. For you its your life, for them its just another day on the job. Know what I mean? :pcguru:

I hope that is not your real picture, because the government is probably already keeping tabs on you...as a matter of fact, I think I see them outside your house listening to wire-taps...ahhhhhh:eek:

As long as they can either follow the money (coming in or going out) or the IPs they can always find you even if you put multiple semi-anonymous steps in between.

Surely nobody would put their real pic on their profile? Please tell me that everybody knows better.
