Isn't is suspicious to the companies? Are there any wh circumstances under which the referrers would be hidden every time?

Yes it is suspicious which is why you need to include fake referrer, garbage traffic and real traffic.

If they ask you anything just say you had bad experiences in the past with networks stealing your traffic sources, so you prefer to keep them private. There's a chance they will shut up and let you be, but there's also a chance they won't like that answer and ask more questions. Just try and bs them all you can. It's better than not answering to their questions.

    andyluke is talking right.

Just go a step further and stick to your guns.

Tell them you have had an offer blatantly stolen
and that's why your applying to them. No your not
reveling your methods and you just want what your
    owed. (And stand firm)

Remember, to these guys, they don't know you from jack -
They need you, you let them think you don't need them.

If push comes to shove, walk away..(There's 100's of companies
out there to choose from) I've been prepaid to do just that and
    never had to yet.

Don't be cocky, just confident and it'll work out.

Btw, I'm no cpa god that's for sure. I just act like it.

Never underestimate the power of denial... or lying for that matter. Liars aren't usually persistent...
