A website reposted one of my articles and I noticed they outrank me for the article title. Is this a penalty risk that a site reposted an article from my site?

I emailed them to add a rel canonical but it may take a week or two as the site owner seems to be out of office.

Would you worry about this or do you think it shouldn't effect my site?

    Thanks

If they didn't add a rel canonical in the end, report them to Google.

I think he did it by mistake. I gave them permission to put the article in their newsletter, I didn't realize they'd publish it. I'm sure they'll add the tag or take it down once they get my message.

Do you think Google would penalize a site because one of your articles were copied? I'm surprised Google isn't smart enough to know that the article was posted on my site a month ago. Seems pretty amateur actually.
