If a competitor has 264,000 Backlinks, and about 80% of them coming from the same site, but different pages of it............do I have a chance of gaining rankings on the first page, not neccesarily the first spot?

That site backlinking has a PR 5

My url has the exact keywords that someone would search for.

As long as they are not #10 on the front page, I would think you could rank in the top 10, depending on the number of backlinks the other 9 sites have. Look at the #10 search result and check out how many backlinks they have - then determine if it is worth the effort.

If you want to beat the competitor you mentioned out of their SERP position, I don't think it would be worth the effort to try. I know that they can be beaten, but it is going to take lots of backlinks and your site is going to have to age and gain authority. This is most likely a multi-year project and not something you can accomplish in a few months.
