If it's linux VPS you use Putty or some other SSH client
If it's Windows you use remote desktop connection

I tried ThrustVPS a couple of weeks ago. I don't remember having a problem connecting, but be prepared for 3-5Mbps. I got my money back after 2 days.

Xsserver still. I've been with them for 3 months and get 50-75Mbps with them. Last month I wanted a second VPS, so tried both ThrustVPS and VolumeDrive. ThrustVPS had ridiculously slow speeds - I messaged them and they replied the next day and told me to try it now, but still got an average of 4Mbps. I didnt even get my VPS with VolumeDrive started. Had to message them twice because first of all it wasn't switched on, and then I couldnt connect with Putty. I got tired of their 5-word replies and didn't bother again. Instead I upgraded my home connection to 50mb and set up my laptop as a dedicated system for some tools.

I have used thrust UK vps few times without any problems and have had good speed too. Can't remember exactly but remembering it being ok. And the 8e for the 1gb VPS ain't that bad price.

Use windows remote desktop, can be found at accessories -> Remote desktop connection

Im guessing provider, not you, because everything you have done, that you posted is correct... So I would go with another provider if you are already having that many issues..

    Just my two cents..

    Talk to you later

For Windows? There's the built in web server, but it is a major pain. You can install a something like xammp, but you will need to setup apache virtual hosts in windows which I have no idea how to do.

There is Plesk, but I know it is reasonably complex and it's not exactly cheap.

So no Virgin broadband for you? Yes, I'm in Essex, so I get about 48Mbps on my line.

That sucks. Is there any reason you don't go with xsserver?

I know Chelmsford and Hadleigh. I'm in Harlow.

If its a Win2008 server and you are on a router. Try to reset the router. If not then you have to allow remote connection through your firewall.

If its a linux server then man its as simple as logging in with "root" username and your password.
