So I'm brand new to the IM game. I've been reading up on BHW for a couple weeks now trying to formulate a good course of action to get myself started, and I must admit, there is a huge amount of information to sift through at first.

At my job I have A LOT of down time and I will be able to get a large amount of work done with my IM every day because of it, so I'm in a good situation right now.

After doing a large amount of reading, planning and thinking, I think my best bet is to start of promoting a few affiliate offers. I'm aware that in most things in life, you get 80% of the results from 20% of the actions you take. So my goal over the past few days has been to identify the 20% of actions that I need to spend extra time mastering. I've come up with 3 general main points that I think would have the most positive effects, if done properly, on my affiliate campaigns.

Find product that has highgravity and KW's you can dominate

Build site/blog as a personaldiscovery or review site with KW optimized pages and great quality originalcontent/videos

    Build back-links and socialsignals

I understand there are other important aspects to this, but what else would you say is THAT important? What else will make this sort of impact on my eventual success? Building landing pages? E-mail subscribers list building?Buying SEO services?

Traffic is the most difficult so ask yourself where you can get access to traffic and then adapt your offer to the traffic rather than the other way around. Find keywords that are easy to rank for and ask yourself which offers suit these keywords. Learn how to do SEO yourself before you buy any service.

Ok, so your saying that the first step in to immerse myself in keyword research, and then pick an affiliate offer that I can promote with those KW's? After that I need to define where I will get my traffic from and then build a site around that type of traffic. Am I understanding you correctly Porridge?

    Yes.

Once you've found your keyword, that's where you'll get your traffic from so that step is already over. Now it's time to build backlinks to get your site ranking for said keyword.

    Understood.

I just got the trial period of MS and have been playing around with that for the last 2 days now. Watched a few tutorials on it to get me started.

Anybody else care to weigh in with their opinion of the 20%???

You can do it vice versa, too. Just look up some affiliate offers and check the product or their niche (e.g. skin cream) in the KW tool.

Make sure to analyze the backlinks of the #1 spot and also of the affiliate site which is ranking the highest. That will let you know if the competition is hard or not.

I would start with a KW with 1-2k exact month searches. The product should be kinda expensive if its an Amazon Affiliate (100$+).

I'm assuming what I'm looking for is back links from sites with high authority and not spammy links, correct? If the #1 affiliate has a bunch of forum posts and links that appear to be spam, then it will be easier for me to rank for those particular KW's right?
