    hi guys
i'm looking for some cool ideas for my new blog as im about to go on a 2 year traveling adventure with not much more than my flip hd camera gps 3g and laptop
going from London UK to Australia then all round Asia etc...

what i want to do is run my own travel site with a twist and running the few sites that i already work for in SEO / admin etc.

as i will be first hand for content i want to create a popular travel blog with an edge that will maybe as a bonus get me some extra cash from bit of adwords etc, for when i'm low on funds, but that isn't really my primary objective as i think it will be cool to update a fun website that's a bit more intresting that your usual trip advisor style site, - but from the outset i wanted to get some ideas from the community on here if thats cool?..

would love to hear from you -
*as a some thing in it for you bonus, the person that comes up with the coolist idea will get a share of the adspace on the home page :) (hopfully this will in time be a sexy prize )

    cheers

I just finished a similar trip and run a similar site. I made a few bucks from selling text links, some from text link brokers and some from SEO consultants who found the blog and contacted me the help their clients rank higher. The money's nothing to write home about, but it pays for a few nights at the pub every once and a while. Although, most of the advertisers are for higher end luxury travelers, not the backpacker set.

I get lots of people emailing me for specific info about travel itineraries, transportation, lodging etc. My blog was more of a travelogue/sightseeing site. One suggestion would be to write detailed reviews of where you stayed, how you got there, what you did. Everyone at the internet cafes is looking for that info, trying to plan their next step. There's thousands of pictures of Ayers rock out there, but not as many detailing the best way to get there.

With that being said, don't spend all of your time online. This is your chance to see the world! Backpacking is about meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. Our least favorite part of our trip was having to hit the internet cafe to research our next destination. After that, we rarely had the energy to update the blog more more than posting a few pics for the family.

Have a great time. You'll love it.

I'm psyched that the reunited band is still putting out good albums.
