I recently read Problogger post on running competitions on blog to increase interaction and attract more traffic. I thought why can't I get my blog visitors to advertise and promote my blog and I give rewards to top 3 participants who bring in most traffic. Right now my blog has over 100k pageviws per month and generate USD 20k pm in profit from my services.

I googled for some Wordpress plugin which can automatically take care of this, however I couldn't find any ( great business idea for people who can code something like that ). But I was determined not to let this idea go to vain and then it just clicked.... why don't I use an Affiliate software to do the tracking and reporting.

I've not used any Affiliate php softwares yet and before I start testing them I've few questions which I thought I ask here and perhaps some experienced people can kindly help me out.

    1. Click Tracking...is it possible ?? Is there any protection against someone using Bot to fake clicks??
    2. Instead of giving $$$ per visitors, can I assign Points?? Since the payout is not in $$$, I would rather avoid $$$ statistics.
    3. I would like Affilates be able to look at stats of other Affiliates, to increase competition among them. I guess, I can also post Top 10 on the blog during the competition.
    4. My visitors are not primarily into internet marketing hence I want to suggest them ways to promote the blog. Here is the list I came up so far:

    • Paste links on Twitter
    • Retweet my Tweets
    • Post on Forum
    • Forum Signature
    • Email your friends
    • Post on Facebook, including groups and pages
    • Submit post on Digg, SU etc

What else I can suggest them do?

    5. Is it possible to create Aff links without using Refid?xxxx Those links look very suspicious and people usually avoid clicking them.

I would appreciate any help you can offer. So far this will be the first program I'll purchase, except for the blog theme :) Also I've not yet spend a single dollar in advertising. The rewards for competition participants will also be in form of my services and not in cash prizes. My goal is to keep using my internet marketing skills to generate more cash without spending any :)

Looking forward to hearing from everyone.

    Thanks

There's a ton of different affiliate scripts out there but for something customized to exactly what you want with all those specifications you will probably want someone to code it for you. If you do 20K a month then it shouldn't be a problem, should be $200-$500 as its not that much of a task.

As for your question #5 - any decent aff marketer will be able to get a domain and create a redirect to make it look more legitimate on their own.

Use LinkBucks, and pay someone $100 to modify this script
    Code:
    http://www.scripts.kunals.com/index.php?page=d/item/detail&itmid=1
Have the script track the number of visits to someone's link, and reward them for the clicks. Install a LinkBucks ad to run when someone clicks a link. Then do a 0 second redirect to your blog index.

If they have not changed anything, you should be able to have the points recorded to their account with only one ad. I did this over a year ago, so look into it.

You've got a great idea here, seems like with just a little refining it could be something beneficial. I had a client who had a SICK affiliate program going. He had coders build it from the ground up. Probably fronted alot of money to make exponentially more back.

I've used modified ways to generate such traffic.

Anyone here running a successful affiliate program?
