OK, I was thinking today and came up with this thought, not sure if anyone else is already doing it or tried it and have only thought about a couple of flaws but let me know what you think.

    1) Buy .info domains on namecheap - $2.98 each/year
    2) Buy hosting reseller account - $24.98/month

Now, find a half decent template for an affiliate site. Make up a crapload of domains with this template, make the keywords / subject different.

Now go to eBay and sell each domain for $5 but keep it vague. E.g. Domain name, pre setup, ready to go, in the search engines etc.

And then sneakily stick in there, hosting runs out at end of the month.

So what do you earn? $2.02 for the domain, less ebay and paypal fees, about $1 but you also earn a customer that pays you $5-$10/month / however much you want to charge them.

    List 10 domains on ebay/day = 300/month, after one month have 300 customers at $5-$10/month = $1500-$3000/month.

The only flaw I could think of is if the person switches their host but they would have to already know a bit about domains already and I also don't know how difficult it is to switch registrars with namecheap.

But even if 50% of people switch you are still earning $750-$1500 after the first month.

    Alternate idea:

Sell the domain, say does not come with hosting, after they purchase tell them they can get hosting from: affiliate link that pays $50-$100 per sale.

Then you could start earning $50-$100 per domain and $500-$1000 per day.

Gd idea? Shit idea? Flaws? Let me know what you think.

It does sound like there is a lot of method involved but for a months hard work to earn $1500-$3000 extra per month I wouldnt complain. I'd do 10 months work and be on an extra $15K-$30K per month :p

Are there any resellers here that know a bit about selling hosting that would like to contribute here? E.g. How hard is it to host / setup a hosting account, who answers the support questions etc

Sounds similar to the concept already in play: seller sells a turnkey site, does one of a few things: 1. buyer must buy hosting and the only account the seller recommends because they know the site will work on it is xyzaffiliatelink and if they don't signpost there that their site may not work/setup properly blah blah bs here. 2. Offers hosting as you stated [some go on to comparing what you have to offer vs the other guys--obviously yours is best]

It's just site flipping via ebay; lots of ebooks out there on that. As far as reseller hosting goes, it is not hard to setup imo and support is handled by you, but you can just go back to your customer support for help [client->you->resellerhost].

mm if i remember correctly if you set up a reseller account elsewhere (as in not at namecheap) than there is a 3 months waiting period before you can transfer the domain to your reseller's hosting account. i could be wrong but im pretty sure that im not.

here's some things for u to ponder:

-on eBay the actual buyer % is ultra low, you'll have a hard time selling your websites
-on eBay stuff that sells is stuff that is super hot and that you want to own and have NOW, not stuff you can do without (especially in todays market)
-on eBay you have competition dedicated to getting people on their reseller hosting (take a look and see how they're dominating the niche). people buy from the leader usually if they are going to buy.
-domain names don't sell on eBay unless you're practically giving them away. eBayers are the cheapest bunch, I've seen a dude try to sell off names for 17 cents (probably trying collect a mailing list).

I have a reseller account - the accounts are very easy to setup - even better if you have a website with an automated process that connects to the reseller system to setup/renew the accounts.

As you are the 'hosting company' you have to support the user but their control panel has a really comprehensive support database that answers most questions. I'd say that if you have like 100-200 active accounts though, you're likely to receive a TON of email when servers play up etc.

mine is UK-based. PM me for deets if necessary.

I have a similar idea but I'll profit off the domain and hosting. I already know a few sites in which I will market my offer to.

wel you could also include some "private" membership site subscription for free as long as they keep your hosting and then just put some tutorials there plr and such , i bet you can write some easy ones in few hours

lmao, love your signature darklegion. For me it is like 5 days planning, 10 days working on it, then I think of something better to do and give up :p

I may start out trying the "This site only works with Hostgator - Aff Link" and see if that works well. If it does I'll setup a reseller account.

Is there any hosting affiliates that pay recurring commission?

eBay is a mess now with with best match filtering, insane fees, sellers not being allowed to leave feedback, etc. You could run with this idea elsewhere pretty easily though.

There are ways around fee's revis. Setup a classified ad and list all the domains and ask buyers to take their pick or if it looks like the item isnt going to sell bid on another account and reverse fees.

DP / SitePoint / Any site/forum that sells sites would probably work as well.

Hmm I would probably say the best method to monetize on this method is to folow berrycorp's method or slightly twist it.

    Code:
    http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/making-money/47775-make-500-day-giving-people-free-websites-offline-marketing.html
Pretty much just offer free website creation but then charge for hosting.

You could also offer affiliate/adwords optimization for them on whichever niche they would like.
