So for the past week I read a lot about penny auctions, etc...

Here is what I never see... Maybe because no one thought about it? Or maybe because it failed before...

But I don't see any local penny auctions... A.K.A. ... You win, and within couple of hours you get your item delivered to you free of charge.

Or a niche local penny auction where you target new moms (or something).

Ideas..comments.. what do you think about it?

Well... What if you make it so that the only people allowed to bid live within... 150KM around you?

Why shouldn't we take it literally? Delivery same day is possible. In my town there are many delivery services where you just phone them, pay them like $10.00, and they will deliver anything of reasonable size anywhere in your town. $20.00 for the next town over, $30.00 for 2 towns over etc.

The profit will only be possible if we are talking High End items with lots of bids. You would need to be making HUGE profits to cover the free shipping. What about Penny Auctions for Food? It may sound silly, but it may just work. "Bid on a Dominos Pizza delivered to your house." Use big chain restaurants that deliver so you can maximize the amount of people who could participate.

"Save on your grocery bill today! Buy dinner for the whole family for only a Penny! 2 Large Pizzas and a bottle of Coca-Cola. Starting bid is only $0.01. Delivered hot and fresh within the hour. Must live within 15 Miles/Kilometers of a Dominos Pizza to participate."

    KickFlip, I like the idea!

So the pizza place acts as a dropshipper on its own, and you are just the middle man? They bid, win, I call on behalf of them, and order it to their address, while I get charged? (assuming I made profit lol)
