I wonder if Namecheap monitors and act on their site searches.

Maybe it's just another common thing I didn't know about yet in this ever learning branche.

But all week I've been trying to come up with a name for one of my projects but literally almost every suffix which fits my KW and makes sense was taken and even worse 98% wasn't even online.

So yesterday I finally found a KW suffix that was surprisingly available for the normal price but I thought, let me sleep about it and today I wanted to register the name and now it has a tag of $2028..

Anyone ever notice something like this otherwise it must have been a sucky coincidence.

If you was reffering on Daddys I would agree with you .

Namecheap are not that cheap, we had/have register many premium domains with them.

More likely the keyword you are looking for is with high interest on it :) Next time act faster :)

I know a few yars back someone posted the same about GoDaddy, they inferred they thought GD were doing as you described, so if you search a domain, but didn't buy it straight away, then it would be gone overnight.

This has happened to me before, though most of the time I see this happen to people, the domain wasn't actually regular price to begin with. Some domains are premium domains and will show as regular domain price until you go to checkout, then it tells you the real price of the domain.

i.e. this happened to me just yesterday. Working on a new project and randomly came across talk.xyz. I was surprised it was available and went to register it for under $2. Went to checkout and the price went up to over 10k. It wasn't that it was taken in the 28 seconds I thought about it, it was just that it's considered a "premium" domain.

Also, check the whois info and see when it was registered. Sometimes it's been registered for a long time, but for some reason showed up on the search as being available.

I think this is happened to me then because it was for sure available yesterday and now the WHOIS shows it has been registered in 2012 expiring in a few months. Weird.

It sounds like a fluky thing where it returned as available but really wasn't. They wouldn't have been able to change the registration date like that.

Whois info can't be faked. My best guess is that you made a typo when searching.
