    Hello BHWers,

    Well, here is my story:

I was hired by some friend to help him design a online training website, I am not a designer but I told him I could find someone to do it for him.
I went to GAF and posted a project for this subject, lots of people made their bids and I thought that the one with the best feedback was the best choice, he ofered to do it for 650 dollars.

After some communication he told me we could use an opensource platform called Moodle, I checked it and found it could be useful and faster to set up.
I finally hired him and offered to escort $300 and that I would release it after he uploaded the platform, install all the plugins i thought we would need and, of course, made the required changes to the theme such as logo and other branding requirements. The rest of the money would be escorted then and released once he uploaded the files to our hosting service.

I must admit here that I could have used the info he gave me and do it myself, but as long as he was the one who found the solution I thought he deserved to be paid for doing it for me, add up the fact that he is a programmer and would solve any problems that I wouldn't be able to deal with.

Everything started and after 2 days he uploaded the CMS to his server and started asking for the first payment, i asked him to install the plugins and modify the theme so our logos appear, and after that I would release the money ($300), he started complaining that I offered to release the funds once the platform were installed, I told him what was what I offered and there the thing started to get unconfortable.

Uploading the platform was just like installing a simple script (as I found later) anyway he was complaining about the money... some red flags started to raise there.

I didn't release anything and asked him to make some plugin installations and some logo modifications. He did it not before sending some flaming comments stating that I was not a nice person, that he was marrying that day and other irrelevant things that I didn't believe.

He finally installed some plugins (not all I asked and not everyone worked, thing that he would have to warn me about) so I, in order to keep things calm, released the first payment.

After this point I asked him to change the language to spanish and to set up a couple of things that wasn't been done, he took more than 7 days and nothing was being done, so I started to ask him to do what he was supposed to do, as my timeline was getting to an end, he made more unrespectful comments and things got worst.

I stated that if he didn't do his work I would have to do it myself, then he threatened me to contact my client and ask him for the rest of the payment. He didn't know that my client was my friend so he thought I wouldn't want him to contact him, there is where i got pissed off and closed the project and did the installation myself.

Before closing the project I asked him to install what he considered to be a fair amount of work for the amount I have paid and he refused.

Everything was done in a couple of hours.

Of course I left a bad feed back explaining what he had done, that hurted him and he started emailing me saying that okay, he didn't want to keep that money, that he would send the money back but if I first erased my feedback.

I know what you are thinking...... and yes, I am a stupid, I erased my feedback before getting my money back...

    The End.

I have been waiting some time to let things cool down.

My idea now is to create a fake user in GAF and set up a project very attractive for him, wait until he bids on it and hire him, make him believe he will start to do the job and after one or two days closing the project and leave a bad feedback to force him to send my money back....

I would like to know what you think about this and if anyone can help me get back my money I can pay 100 dollars...

Please, tell me what do you think.

    Thanks

i dont know what gaf is, but why not just repost the feedback? or just retype what you wrote to us on gaf (except the last part about the fake user). im sure that it will hurt his image as a trustworthy, hardworking person.
