Hey guys,

I was talking to this guy who wanted to buy my account and once we got to the payment part he immediately said that f and f payments aren't allowed in his country and he will have to pay with goods and services. This sounded a little bit dodgy to me since I know they can refund the payment if they buy with goods and services.

Is there anything I can do to make sure he doesn't take the account and then refund the money or is there nothing to worry about in the first place?

Thanks

If you are looking to get protection from yourself maybe you can use another payment method. But i don't recommend that.
They to deal with him if he or she has reputation.

He has a few vouches but they can be easily faked so I don't know

Hot deal for anyone who can provide US credit card or bank account and get nothing less than $ 500 as % write me asap for real business.

buying and selling social media accounts is a risky business for both sides..

You just have to go with your gut feeling

There are some third world countries that don't have friends and family like example in my country. But yeah like the guy above me said, go with your gut feeling.

Paypal do not give any seller protection on digital purchases if the buyer files a chargeback and claims the item was not delivered. If they claim its an unauthorised purchase then you can win but its still difficult. In other words, you would probably be better off with a different form of payment. Maybe there is some sort of escrow service you could use.

Pretty sure PP gives protection now for digital goods.

Also OP friends and family can be charged back as well. Don't be mistaken.

If it's a big sum why not ask for a bank transfer? It's the best way in my opinion.
If you are however adamant on using PP, than perhaps your best option would be sending an invoice with conditions in it and if he accepts it he can't refund, BUT if he is a scammer there is always the chance that he might do an unauthorized charge.

sounds dodgy, hold back the email you created the account with...
That's what I was thinking of doing, changing the email to a new one and then keeping the original so that if he does a chargeback I can still get my account back. Do you think this would work

It used to work that way.

People would buy accounts, insist on the og email and then get fucked over after cash was transferred as it wasn't the og email and the sellers grab the account back.

Obv I dont condone this but in your circumstances its the opposite way round.

As long as accounts can still be claimed back this way it would be a way to protect yourself. You need to check they still are...

Also paypal transactions can be claimed back up to 180 days after so maybe think about that too...

A safer method would be to do the transaction through an escrow provider. No chargebacks, guaranteed payment.

Fees are slightly higher than Paypal, but you're not putting everything on the line.

https://escrow.payoneer.com/escrow is the cheapest Escrow service I've found. $10 minimum fee.

Escrow.com is more well known, but the fee is $25.

If it's $500+, use escrow services.
Otherwise it's just a risky situation, that's why you want to be selling multiple accounts if you plan on doing this, not just one.

Practice Patience unless you are tight for money, there will be more buyers in the future

As you are selling your instagram, I am quite sure the amount is big.
Hence I would not suggest you to opt for PayPal (goods and service).
Better use some kind of escrow service. So that both can be on safer side.

Since this is only a small deal I don't think I'm going to use an escrow service, I might just have to take the risk anyway

Ok guys, just did the deal and he hasn't blocked me or anything so it doesn't seem too suspicious. He also didn't even ask for the password for the email which would be really stupid of him if he was trying to take the account and refund the money.

I'll keep you guys updated if something goes bad but I'm crossing my fingers that everything is going to be fine!

EDIT: His story also did check out with the "no f & f payments in his country" because his paypal address is indian.
