    Hey guys,

I got an email this morning from someone wanting to buy one of my domains and it gave me an idea to make some monies :)

I don't really do blackhat so I'm sure this method would be of use to some of you.

    Here's how it works:

    1) Get yourself a formal sounding .com for a domain brokers

    2) Chuck up a crappy landing page making out you are a domain broker/buyer/investment fund etc.

    So something like:

    Code:
    Domainbuyers.com
    - We buy premium domains for great prices.

That's not my domain and it's a crap sales pitch so make up your own :p

    3) Find a domain valuation service with an affiliate program (or for extra bank build your own site offering the service :p)

    4) Grab a list of domains with the owners contact details (slow way - find crappy domain on sedo, whois check, email). Ideally you are looking for parked/underdeveloped domains that people want to sell.

    5) Email loads of them saying I like your domain, interested in selling, how much you looking for?

    6) When they reply saying oh my premium crappy domain I want $1000 you have a hook.

    7) Email them back saying I like your domain blah blah, we may offer you 10% less than a professional valuation. We use AFF LINK/SITE LINK to value our sites. Go away and get it valued and then come back to us - so we can make you an offer.

    8) Bank when they get the valuation.

    9) Conveniently disappear.

Like I said, this won't be for all of you and I'm not spoonfeeding - go out and twist it and make some money.

    Ciao

This is an ooooold trick. I've always wondered if someone bites for it though. Might be able to catch a few newbies

Any domain forum has lots of posts and warnings bout this trick, I've got tons of emails from people that out of nowhere want to buy one of my sites or domains. After replying, they always send me to some domain valuation site.

Really? lol - I've got like 100 domains and never seen it before. Awesome method though - if you didn't have much experience I wouldn't be surprised if you fell for it.

Oh well, old method but I'm sure some of you can work it :)

I just started at sedo last week and got an email like that :D

If they were really interested in your domain they would just offer it through sedo I would think.

Well you would own the site that offers the valutions or earn a commission for refering people to get their domain valued...

to me this is pretty much fraud.

just be smart and cover your tracks. you don't want to mess w/ the wrong person.
