In short, the answer is no. To legally put news content on your website from a source other than your own, you'll need to obtain permission from the author. Why? Because republishing work without permission takes away the content owner's ability to profit from their original work.

You can use IFTT and feedly to auto post to word press sites and you'll start getting hits from search engines

Rewriting news is not a big deal, especially with all sorts of GPTs. You can grab news from APIs or even scraping other sites, pass the content through AI (in a wise manner) and publish automatically. If done correctly, you shouldn't have problems because you took the story and republished a different version of it. You can mention the original article at the bottom and you're mostly covered.
The real problem will be images and videos. Unless you'll make friends with Associated Press, Reuters and so on, media copyrights will come after you, sooner or later.
