Someone said if you rent a server, and install 5 VMs with 5 instances of firefox, you can accrue a lot more views with vagex.

But I have a few questions about this if you folks don't mind.

    1) Is anyone on here ACTUALLY doing this? (right now) Does it work smoothly?

    2) When I go to my vagex account, and click on "machines", it has 2 machines listed. My laptop and desktop. I never listed either machine, so I'm assuming that Vagex AUTOMATICALLY adds new machines when detected? (my account doesn't seem to have any other option other than "reset a machine address".

    3) Technically speaking, I have 3 laptops and a desktop. So thats 4 machines already. I've already tried running Vagex on my laptop AND desktop at the same time, but it doesn't work because I get the "same ip" error.

For my situation specifically, what would YOU DO? Considering I already have 4 computers. I've had a Vagex account for a while but have never used it to max efficiency. If I wanted to set this up on my 3 other machines, to I just rent out a private proxy every month?

Can someone please explain the mechanics behind this? I'm not good when it comes to technical stuff but I really want to get this setup and working properly.

    Thanks guys (and gals) ;)

ps. Whats the deal with people always saying firefox? I've always used Vagex on IE and have never had any issues. Is there any advantage for Firefox over IE?

pss. I realize this is a lot of questions but I really would like to learn this stuff, thanks.

If you want to run 5VM's I think you need 5 proxies...but dunno if vagex ban's accounts for using multiple accounts.

you need to get a private dedicated proxy for each machine. I had 3 of my laptops running that way for months and all was fine.

Ok thanks. I just want to clear this up though. All I need is a private proxy (with a dedicated IP), not a VPS.. correct? So what I basically do is rent 3 proxies (for the 3 additional machines), turn on one laptop, put the proxy into my browser (I think I know how to do that part), then turn vagex on?

I just want to make sure I'm understanding you.

    Thanks - SB

Well i donĀ“t use proxies, because if they are shared or went into a blacklist will be the start of the end.
    So my solution is simple.
Build 1 dedicated server with 5 ips, then create 5 vms, with 1 ip on each and then start all the firefox plugin and the vagex program.

The issue that i have found is that after sometime the program crashes and firefox also stops, so a good idea would be to have a script or a batch file with a command to restart the firefox in a hourly basis , the same applies to the vagex application.

DO NOT CREATE 5 SEPARATE VMs FOR VAGEX.
That's a huge waste of resources and your VPS or laptop will likely freeze. Just launch multiple instances of Firefox Portable and use FoxyProxy with each Firefox instance.

Well i have enough resources for that :) E5 CPU /32GB ram, 1TB HDD , etc...
now that solution is nice... but foxyproxy will use shared proxies, so if 2 different user with the same proxy wont be good in vagex, and after a few times you will have the machine ids frozen , and the ip Release is not that fast ...
    A bad idea i think.

There are dozens of proxy addons, I guess you will find one that supports socks authentication, but as far as I know, Firefox will ask for your proxy password when you switch to it, or use this with any proxy addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/proxy-authentication/

Well, for starters, the view:credit ratio is unimaginably low and decreasing everyday. You get about 10 views:1000 credits
