I want to piggyback on my neighbors wifi

Hey
i have 3 or 4 unsecured wifi networks that show up on my laptop, although they only show 1 bar and its hard for me to connect,is there anyway to improve the signal from my wireless card? I have tried all those dumb vidoes around (making a dish out of aluminum foil and poking it through the card) and none of them work.

I have been searching for days and even went out anf bought a brand new card,and still i get a weak signal.

Any tips ?

There are powerful antennas for wifi cards, that should work

have you tried a cantenna?

basically it's a receiver hooked to your computer that's inside a pringles tube that catches the signals and draws them into the tube making a better connection by gathering more of the signal.


this guy take's it a step further and i'm sure this would give you amazing connectivity.

I'm going to try to hit my wifi, 1200 feet away, and if I happen to hit the local McDonald's, maybe ill barrow there wifi instead.

all i have to say is vmware + backtrak 4 = internet, or what you could do, is get a really long male to female usb cable and run it outside as far as you can and see if you get a good signal

haha that reminds me where I used to work across the street was one of ATT network services stations and I made friends with one of the guys.
He told me that if I can reach the wifi that is on the top three floors it's wide open. SO I build a cantenna kinda like that and we had free wifi for the night crew. We would set it up after the bosses left.

I read in a tech forum where this kid used to war drive around renaming the ssid's the most offensive things he could think of. It started some serious finger pointing in the neighborhood. "Your wife is a whore" That was one of them.

that's sick.. i wouldn't mind a quarter mile wifi range. Just more WEP's to crack ;P
