    Hello mates ..

As I posted before, I'm going to participate to Startup Weekend (a 54 hour event for Marketers, Developers, Designers etc .. to get together, present an idea and create communities and businesses :) ) that it's going to be sponsored by Microsoft BizSpark and Amazon Services as well.

So after days of thinking , I came up with an idea.

Since the unemployement rate on Kosovo (my country) it's 40-60% , I thought that .. why I don't create a Job Site ?

Employers would be able to post ads whenever they need workers and these unemployed peoples would see the ads at the same time so they can contact these Businesses/Employers and finally get a job !

It really sounds something effective and it could be helpful for the peoples .. I'm not trying to get rich from it - that isn't my first main goal , I want to help this poor community.

The problem is that I don't have any experience on building sites and I don't really know how it exactly works like (I just know the required stuffs) but I'm fast at understanding things so for 1 month - until December 2 , i'm pretty sure I can actually come up with a demo.

I want to come up with a website similar to JobsDB.com or Linkedin.com/jobs

Please if anyone could help me out with suggestion , I would really appreciate it. This is really a huge potential for me as a 15 Year Old IM for my future.
Peter Sunde (co founder of The Pirate Bay / Flattr) it's also going to be there together with alot of other mentors.

    I need some recommendations :

    - Hosting (A Host Provider that supports Alertpay Payments)
    - I'm looking forward using Drupal , can it be effective ?

    Thanks alot ..
    Any suggestion it's greatly appreciated.

How much PHP development experience do you have? A jobs website isn't an easy task if you're unsure of yourself - but once you get the ball rolling it's quite good.

    I recommend either:

    a) Using a CMS such as Drupal (as you thought about) and creating a plugin/mod/addon for a Jobs posting type site.

    2) Using a PHP Framework such as symfony2/zend/cakephp to build your app.

I recommend going with option 2 - I can get a working prototype out for a website in about 2-3 hours now using Symfony2.

For hosting, I recommend going with someone like Rackspace Cloud Servers over AWS as I've found I get better performance out of Rackspace than AWS. And less downtime as well..

I would start with an open source jobs board script and modify it to your needs.

JoobsBox and jobberBase are two popular options. Both can be hosted on a cheap LAMP setup.

I agree with BreakAllTheClocks - use a ready made open source one. It's easier than making modifications to drupal. Once you're making money you can improve it.

jobberBase has quite a few plugins you can find in their forum. It's quite easy to add features.

As for hosting, Alertpay doesn't need anything special. Any cheap host that supports PHP5 and mysql should be fine.

I can give you my jobs site for free. The domain is expiring very soon and it would be a pure waste to let it die. I don't think I can sell it because I didn't done much promotion and SEO and I don't want to continue that project anyway. You will have to modify it accordingly to your needs because it doesn't have jobs from Kosovo :) and also it doesn't have a panel for employers (the posting being done automatically). You would need to know some PHP to make the modifications. If you think it can help you, send me a PM. If you think it's a burden to learn new stuff and apply and you don't have that much time for the learning curve, no problem, I reckon it's more efficient to use a CMS.

Hey mates thanks alot for the replies.

It's weird .. Unemployement rate on my country it's around 40-60% and this is the biggest problem bothering this society right now and I really thought that it's something that it's being searched all over internet too, but when I checked on Google Adwords Keyword Tool and some other online websites , it doesn't really have that much searches :/

The #1 websites ranked for the main keywords on this topic , get only 200-300 views per day.. Huh !

Can you guys just suggest me any idea for any project to come up with ?
    I would appreciate it.

It can be anything , anything that comes on your mind !

Job sites are here for years, this is nothing new.
If you don't have one in your country and want to do localization to it I think it is great.

After that being said I don't think it is a good idea to startup weekend unless you give it some sort of an edge, a twist that will make it a hit at your local market.
I don't know your market well enough to give you ideas but you get what I mean.
