    i hate ebay,

so now i've got punks retracting bids just to see what the reserve on my listing is.

i thought ebay didn't allow bid retractions. yet, some guy entered 300 dollars on an item...then retracted the bid a day later

can i get my reserve fee back now??? Noooo.....

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

Bid retractions are a bite in the ass. I haven't had too many in the 8 years I have sold merchandise there but the few I have encountered were very discouraging to say the least.

According to ebizzle, retractions are forbade, except when:

-The item description has changed significantly since the seller has placed his/her bid. (I didn't think you could change your auction after a bid had been placed.)

-You unintentionally entered the wrong bid amount, such as $100 instead of $10 for example. In which case, ebizzle suggests that the bid be reentered in the desired amount immediately and the incorrect bid can be retracted.

-The seller is unreachable, either by email (undeliverable) or phone.

I am sure that unscrupulous buyers such as the one you encountered can think of several pathetic ways to exploit the ebizzle retraction exceptions.

I thought 3bay was already on the shit list. Well, it should be. Let's also include feepay too.

You know, if that's the case, they should put in a verification page that verifies if that's the real bid they want to enter in...

    like,

'hey, you entered in $100 dollars....are you SURE you want to enter this amount you stupid f*ck, if you press enter, you will not be able to retract the bid?

Oh, I like that for sure!

I bet that I have lost maybe $2-3 grand in the 10 years of my eBay "experience" due to reserve fees.

My first thought was to ratchet up the reserve amount, double the avg closing price should do it. Could you also add some text in the listing "I'm willing to negotiate if the reserve does not get met" keep the fish in the net.

I thought the policy was pretty strict, appears that it is not.

ebay is interesting, but I am not really sure that it is the profit making machine that many an ebook tout it as being.......

Seems that they are really good at pushing good merchants out of using ebay and they simply do not care about it.

ebay is about the buyer and not the seller they are saying f* the seller and give the buyer whatever they want. Ebay is a joke and will never use them again
