I've been saving content from a website, and downloaded around 15GB over the course of 6-7 hours, Is me using HTTRACK could have shut the site down, or is it something else non relate.

how many connections did you used?

If you used too many, yes, that is equal with a DOS attack. What message do you get? Other possibility is that they banned your IP

You may have use up the remaining bandwidth from their hosting account or it could just be that your ip was banned.

I only had 14 connections open at once at the most majority of time it was under 8, and my total download speed never peaked above 1.25 for extended period of time. It did reach as high as 2MB/s to 3MB/s but that was only for a minute hours ago.

My IP wasn't banned, cause I checked at one of those is it down sites, and they had the site as being down.

If your ip was banned, you can scrape it using proxies. But I think the main reason could be you used up the site's bandwith for the month. You can do a whois to find out the host and see if they have a limited bandwidth hosting package. If so, this is likely the case.

If that's a serious question, you cannot. A whois would only show the provider if they use shared hosting. If they use a VPS or dedicated then it will only show the netblock owner and that may or may not be the hoster.

Just wondering if ecommerce was anything different. Wonder if something like Magento would copy.

Yes, but you would only end up with a html site, no backend. All separate html pages and not a CMS.
